Would you rather listen to a 3-minute Ke$ha song or an 8-minute post rock song?

I honestly don't like the post-rock Swans I've heard, but are you going to use an actual good band to represent the entire genre of post-rock when post-rock clearly doesn't deserve it?

Today's review is The Dessert Sessions' Vol. 9 & 10 (Stoner Rock, Alternative Rock, Experimental Rock)

So this album is good. Really chill. Though I wouldn't call this experimental rock. RYM says it is but I disagree. This album doesn't venture so far away from the normal and standard practices of alternative and stoner that I think calling it experimental rock is a bit ludicrous. That said, this album is good. The real problem with this album is it feels more like a compilation rather then an album. Some of the songs just don't flow into each other.

Favorite Track: Covered In Punks Blood

The track was raw, punk, and stoner. It was everything I want from music and more!

Ok, I'm going to start this off by disagreeing with RYM on that this album is progressive metal. Just because a song has distortion on the guitar, and a faster rhythm doesn't mean it's metal. This album is a serious of soft melodic songs with occasional increases in BPM. This album is everything we've come to know and love about Opeth since they killed the growls.

Favorite track: Era

So what you're saying is that there's nothing to love about this album.

It's ****ing great. Era is easily my favorite track on the album as well.

Today's review is Radiohead's OK Computer (Alternative Rock, Art Rock).


So I was a bit reluctant to listen to this album after the disappointment of A Moon Shaped Pool. But perhaps this album will be not boring. So I gave it a listen. Much better. I'd say this album is as good as Kid A if not better then. I think it's to early for me to say which album is better, but they both, with a few more listens, could easily get put on my favorites. OK Computer is a fun enjoyable album. No compllaints at all.

So I have begun work on a new album. Not sure what it will be called or the musical direction yet. What I'm thinking is going in a more art rock/ambient/stoner rock direction. I've got one song done and am working on a second one.

This means no more reviews til I'm done with the album, or I'm frustrated I can't get it moving forward any further and have to take a break from it for a week or two.

I'd also like to make it so this album doesn't fall into the trap of my other projects I set the following rules.

1. At least 10 songs that are 3 minutes or longer.
2. No less than ten tracks
3. Cohesive flow between songs
4. Each song must have one major quality about it that sets it apart from the other songs.

Make that **** heavy as **** or **** you.

I can do drums if you want.

I was considering a death metal style of track after the current one I'm working on. Problem is, I suck ass at metal instrumentals.

I asked you to do drums on one of the songs already man.

I've listened to Acid Bath. I was thinking of a song with a slow atmospheric build. Then reuse the riff I wrote from the last thirty seconds of my song porter.

Song 2 is finished and everything is sticking to my ground rules I set. Really happy. I have a Indian drum that I made a beat with for this next track. I'm not sure what else to do yet but as I play around 'til I come up with something.

First track is ambient. Second track is Piano rock (if you can call it that) meets stoner rock. This has been so much fun to work on so far. :)

I've hit a brick wall with recording. So I'm going to check out some new (to me) music. See if I can find some inspiration.
