Why it needs more love: this album is this band's only release, as mysterious as the lyrical content of these mellifluous songs. This is a wonderfully anachronistic collection of Irish folk, beautiful, haunting, and transcendent.

TH, can you make out any of this?

h/t Neapolitan
Skara Brae was band made up of Mícheál Ó Domhnaill who played guitar and his two sisters Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill & Maighread Ní Dhomhnaill. Dáithí Sproule joined them for the album, playing guitar along with Mícheál. I think the magic with Skara Brae is how well siblings can harmonize with each other. Another thing was it was the first album to feature songs sung in Gaelic. Mícheál and Tríona joined the band that Dónal Lunny formed after he left Plantyx. They had line-up shuffle with them joining and a member leaving, with that they became known as The Bothy Band. They played traditional Irish music with the same energy as a Rock band. Mícheál went on to do other stuff, he worked with the Irish fiddle player Kevin Burke.

I don't know if you are still looking for recs.
Gerald Trimble - First Flight (1983)
David Grisman Quintet ‎– The David Grisman Quintet (1977)
Gjallarhorn - Ranarop (1997)
