Default Fiddler's Adventures On Patrol

So this journal is going to essentially be about the random (and hopefully funny) encounters I have in my day-to-day functions. You'll probably find these helpful. We use the column to the left, although some things are slightly different such as a 10-54 is used to indicate a wreck on the flight line, 10-60 is used when you have heavy equipment blocking the road (often used in conjunction with a 10-58 - direct traffic). A 10-82 is requesting a patrol supervisor or an officer, 10-83 is investigating a suspicious building (such as a broken window, screen, door, or otherwise). 10-94 is petty theft. Oh yeah I forget 10-32 which is similar it's an unauthorized weapon on post.

This next part depends on the agency, of course, but overall radio communications are meant for short, quick bursts of communications, not lengthy conversations. Which is why 10-30 (over use of radio), 10-21 (call x by phone), 10-25 (meet in person) etc exist. So a typical radio conversation may sound like this:

Dispatch: Echo-One-Nine-Seven, ten-twenty?
E197: Dispatch, ten-twenty at checkpoint golf
Dispatch Echo-One-Nine-Seven, 10-15 at checkpoint hotel.

What just happened was dispatch asked E197 (patrol unit and is mine) where they were located, to which E197 responded that he was at checkpoint golf which would be "Building G". Dispatch then sent E197 to a civil disturbance at Building H.

SO now that you might know what I'm talking about, the following dispatch call went out yesterday:

Dispatch: All navigable units, possible 10-55 in the vicinity of Checkpoint Bravo.

A 10-55 is intoxicated person. I didn't pay any attention to it until they called for a 10-82 and I was the closest. I get there and it's a dog that is drunk off it's ass wandering around in the street. Apparently someone had given their dog some beer in their water bowl and the dog was wondering around. Better yet, somebody had reported this dog as a drunk person.

That's it for now, more later!
