I can definitely see the appeal. I enjoyed it enough that I could see myself venturing into some of their other material at a later date.

Okay, I'd like to change my rec.
Just listened to a bit of Maelstrom and it's not as good as i remember.
Instead: Alec K. Redfearn & The Seizures - Exterminating Angel

Acme - To Reduce The Choir To One Soloist
Recommended by The Batlord

I've listened to a few songs by these guys before and they totally rocked my socks off. As much **** as I give Bat for his horrendous taste, he knows metalcore, and these guys definitely seem to deliver. Here's hoping this album is up to snuff.

Blind: The album opens with a voice sample and initally almost sounds like a crossover thrash track. However, that quickly fades as the band explodes into an onslaught of epic proportions. Some of the rawest vocals you'll find on the metalcore circuit here, holy ****ing **** man. I do believe you've played this track in plug before, but it's scoring big here regardless.

Attempt: This might just be up here there with some of the hardest hitting metalcore I've heard. The biggest dosage of heavy as can be riffing and gnarly breakdowns. It's like as soon as they break it all down for you to catch up, they restart with an even more earth shattering display.

Injection: Some really interesting guitar work on this one. Just as heavy as the other tracks but maybe a little bit more diversity, which I do appreciate.

Ordinary: Generic guitar feedback metalcore intro transcends into easily the most chaotic moment of the album so far. This vocalist is a ****ing monster, that outburst was grindcore-esque and just came together as one big ass-kicking blur. Things slow down momentarily and I'm just now realizing these guys have two guitarists. ANNNNND we're back to balls to the wall. This is like ultimate 90s metalcore right here.

Cathode: Interesting intro here, more voice clippings and some sfx. Doesn't last long though as we're back into the thick of things. I think this may be the first time I can attribute the vocalist for being the reason why I dig a metalcore band but this dude just does it right. The intensity is off the charts on this album, looks like they only made the one LP which is a shame.

Basterdiser: This track is past the point of even being metalcore. This is like some powerviolence-grindcore master child that feels like getting smacked over the head with a ton of cinder blocks. I wish I had my headphones because I feel like I need to be hearing this at potentially ear-damaging levels.

Repress: Transition track really, cool but not as mindbogglingly awesome as everything else.

Attempt: RYM says this song should be 15 minutes long but the album I'm hearing has it as only around 6 minutes in length, just a heads up. They basically use the extra time of this track to adventure into more hardcore based territory. It works. I'm glad they didn't take that approach for the full album, but it's an awesome track nonetheless.

Repress: Why'd these dickheads use the same song title for two tracks that are nearly back-to-back? Whatever. Pretty solid closer, kind of feels like it's rehashing what the last track did but that's not entirely a bad thing.

Final Verdict: If it's not evident that I loved this album then you just didn't bother reading the review. ****ing brilliant piece of metalcore history right here. Not only is this one of the better metalcore albums I've heard, this is going to be added to the list of "albums to make people listen to if they say metalcore sucks" alongside Jane Doe, Dead Man Walking, We Are Romans, and No Absolutes In Human Suffering.

How many albums do you listen to at once?
