really excited about a new engine. hoping they can reinvent the series before it totally loses what’s left of it’s fanbase.

Ubisoft also just announced some killer releases as well. I'm not going to do an official post on it since I didn't watch it, but Assassins Creed Odyssey actually sounds dope. I have yet to try Mario Rabbids Kingdom but apparently they're adding Donkey Kong into the mix so I may have to look into getting a Switch finally. Really excited for Nintendo tomorrow morning. I'm gonna try to watch at least some of it but I'll probably be leaving for work at the time that they start. Will be reading highlights though. Again, probably won't be an official post on it but I'll still talk about it after the fact probably. Ok yeah, there'll be an official E3 post from me for Nintendo. Fine, you talked me into it.
Still think Xbox wins E3 hands down unless Nintendo does something truly magnificent, which wouldn't be out of the question for Nintendo. |

Grim Dawn I'd like to preface this by saying that I can't for the life of me remember if I've talked about this game in this thread yet, but later is better than never, unless I have talked about it. In any case, Grim Dawn is great. Prior to getting my new PC, I was actually unable to even start Grim Dawn. My old PC couldn't handle anything about it for some reason so I got a refund on the game and it sat in the distance for a while. Then I went ahead and bought it again and alas! I was able to play it. And what an experience it has been. It's basically your typical Path of Exile / Diablo III style game, and what I think I love about it most is the graphics style. It's very reminiscent of Path of Exile in the way that the graphics don't see bubbly or super polished. A game like Diablo III sets the standard for that in my opinion. The other thing that's cool about it is the way the map progresses. Again, it works in a lot of the same ways as Path of Exile where each mission you do, it gradually brings you up the map further and further. So far I've gotten through a pretty good number of missions and i'm still near-ish the starting area. Which is good for me because I like a game that I can spend a lot of time on. The combat of course feels very polished as they always seem to do in these style of games. The perk system and leveling system is really neat as well. I'll post a picture since it's easier to explain in an image than in words: Spoiler for img:
You can choose from a variety of different classes, and from what I can tell, you can mix certain classes together to fit your build. I'm currently running a soldier with a nightblade and going full tank. Every time you level up, you can the chance to level your physique, cunning, and spirit. I've been focusing on physique because again, I'm running a full tank build. The cool thing about my build so far is that I'm already fighting bosses and enemies at least 4 levels above me, and I'm beating them down no problem. It's so much fun to see the enemies get launched sometimes too. Gives impact. As far as I can tell, Grim Dawn should definitely be considered when you're looking for more Diablo III / Path of Exile style games. The number of these games is continuously growing, and each one has its unique twist which always brings life back to the genre. I'm excited to see how this genre evolves, especially when it's allowed for games like Divinity Original Sin 2 to exist. |

E3: Final Thoughts and Games I'm Excited For As far as I can tell, there weren't really any big releases from the showcases that I didn't see. I read the news about Nintendo's big reveals, and that's pretty much what I expected from Nintendo. They already had their golden year with Breath of the Wild and Odyssey. So I wasn't really sure what they were going to bring to E3. They didn't leave empty handed since they released a brand new Super Smash Bros. Seems to be the idea that they want to get all the characters in one place, which is perfectly acceptable. Why not do that? Otherwise, I didn't see anything breathtakingly great to be super excited for. But hey, Nintendo still have the whole year. There's still time. Anyway, as E3 comes to a close, there's been a lot of announcements, especially since Xbox revealed a **** ton. So I wanted to make a short but sweet list of games that I'll be picking up or looking forward to this year. Assassin's Creed Odyssey: I think it's been since the first Assassin's Creed that I even played the games. It's been several years since I've even touched an Assassin's Creed game, but I've always heard the series as a whole has been a bit rocky. I know as well that Assassin's Creed: Origins was met with pretty positive feedback. Then we heard the release of Assassins' Creed Odyssey, and my interest in the series somehow folded backwards. This'll be a game I'll try out and test the waters with. I don't know yet if I'm going to play the rest of the series, but this game looks cool and interesting enough that it has piqued my interest. Doom Eternal: I played not only a **** ton of the multiplayer in Bethesda's last Doom release, but the main story mode was also a **** ton of fun. I had no idea there was even talk of a sequel in the works, but Bethesda was nice enough to surprise us with not only the name of the sequel, but a pretty badass trailer of what it will look like to run through Hell. You taking notes, EA? You actually want to show the game sometimes. Doom Eternal went right on my "going to buy" list. I'm sure it won't disappoint and it'll hopefully revive the Doom multiplayer community. Fallout 76: Yet another Bethesda release but this should really surprise nobody. I've been looking forward to another Fallout game since I finished the Far Harbor DLC on Fallout 4. Everything they've announced for the game so far has gotten me more and more excited. I appreciate that they are not only trying something new, but they're also being very cautious as to how they present this new Fallout game. There's a bit of skepticism around it, which is fair when a game gets changed, but I don't think we have anything to fear. Especially since it's Bethesda. Now if it were like Xbox or some other big company releasing this game, I'd understand the nerves. But I don't think Bethesda will ruin one of their most successful franchises. They also wouldn't do that to the fans. That's about it tbh. A lot of games that were Xbox exclusives will be games I probably won't play so I'm not really going to bother talking about them. I hope everybody has at least something to look forward to this year. It may not become one of the best years in gaming, but it's got potential for sure. |
