Double Feature Man, if I tried to keep count how often the Nintendo 64 managed to not only make a great game, but make a great sequel to an already fantastic franchise, i'd lose count. I mean, first we have Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask, now what comes to mind is Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie. I still remember right now my entire experience playing Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie for the first time. Both games are and will always be fantastic and really took a part in making my gaming childhood a fantastic one. Something interesting to note as well, and this is something I just thought about. Banjo Kazooie was the more positive side as Banjo Tooie was more of a dark take on the story, as was the two Zelda games I mentioned before. Anyway, thought that was interesting. So, these games. If you haven't played them yet, you simply must do so, whether it be on an N64 or on the Xbox Arcade. I can't even tell you how attached I got to these games when I was a kid. I just remember when I got Banjo Kazooie for the first time, I was blown away with what I was allowed to do. Being able to learn moves as a bird and a bear, killing enemies and fighting bosses that you'd never even think would be a traditional boss fight, and of course getting to the top of Grunty's castle and taking her on with everything you've got. Potential spoiler ahead. Talking about the fight with Gruntilda in Banjo Kazooie always brings up one of the best moments in the fight, the mega Jinjo finale. Seriously, one of the best way to kill off the enemy of the game is to not only hit her once, but multiple times with what seems to be a powerful blast: the guitar music isn't part of the game, someone added that in I guess Of course, now we move onto easily the darker of the two games...Banjo Tooie. Back when Banjo Kazooie was gaining popularity, the people who had beat the game were already talking about wanting a sequel to the game, and I was part of that group. I enjoyed the first one so much that I really felt like Rare could deliver a great sequel to an already great game, and that's exactly what they did. Banjo Tooie is the perfect sequel. It has everything you'd want in a sequel in a game franchise like this. More moves to learn, more characters to run into, more levels and challenges, cool bosses, great dialogue, and seeing Gruntilda with nothing but bones is a pretty hilarious sight to see as well: I really don't want to spoil too much about this game in case most people have never played it, but I just want to say that I probably played through the sequel more times than I did the original. I think it had to do with more of it being so dark and mysterious and things had been happening to the people that you grew up knowing in the first game, and seeing those things happen were almost heartbreaking (potential spoiler). Not sure where i'd rate these two games in terms of my list of N64 games in general, but they're certainly two games that any gaming aficionado needs to either have in their collection, or play it 100% through. |

Banjo Kazooie was awesome! I loved how the main theme song continued into every area you went into, but took on changes to reflect the different themes of the levels:

^yeah, that was pretty awesome. I think Banjo Tooie's 'Isle of Hags' is one of the coolest over worlds for an N64 game. It was so vast and the environments were so unique. Banjo Kazooie was a cool one too, I loved feeling like I was progressively getting higher in Gruntys castle.

This is going to be done in a few parts so that I don't make this post seem longwinded etc etc etc. As the image above would suggest, i'm going to talk about games that at first glance don't seem like they'd be worth your time, but in actuality, turned out to be pretty freaking awesome. we've all had those moments where you look at a games title or description and you just think "man, i wonder if that'd be any good". Of course, most of the time (for me anyway) it turns out that the game does end up being pretty damn good. So, to start things off... Dino D Day So, looking at the title of this game, the first thing you probably think of is "dinosaurs?" Yeah, ****ing dinosaurs. This game is your typical run of the mill fps multiplier game with different classes, two different teams, cool maps, etc etc. But what it has going for them as other games don't, it's the ability to choose a human class, or a dinosaur class. I know what you're thinking..."wouldn't that make things overpowered?" Surprisingly, it doesn't. The developers went about this game the same way any developer would with an fps game, they made all the classes balanced with each other including the dinosaurs. Each class be it human or dinosaur has it's weaknesses and it's strengths. The kamakazi raptor for instance has speed and is tiny, but the weakness is that you have to be right next to an enemy player in order to inflict any damage at all. You also have to be lucky enough to hit the enemy where it hurts to get the kill, otherwise you're wasting a life. It's a great game and for the money, it's a nice way to kill some time and kick some ass as a dinosaur with guns on it's back. At first glance, I thought the game would be cheesy and stupid, but it's really got a lot going for it and in time, i'm hoping they update the graphics as those are the only things keeping it from being really enjoyable. Continuing on what I was talking about before with games turning out to be better than you'd think, let's get to the obvious one and talk about it shall we? Have you ever thought to yourself "man, i wonder what life is like for a goat", well now you can experience that dream first hand. Goat Simulator puts you in control of what you'd imagine to be...a Goat, go figure. But no, this isn't just a normal run of the mill Goat Simulator, this one is special. What have we have here is a one of a kind, civilian ass kicking, gas station blowing up'ing, trampoline jumping, devil worshipping Goat Simulator. Yeah, you heard me. There's all that stuff, and with the updates they bring out all the time, there's so much more. Honestly, I thought this game was a joke when I first heard about it, and y'know, in some ways it is. I mean, the developers even said that the bugs and glitches that you find throughout the game just make it hilarious, and they really do. This is just a fun game, and it's done really well so that everything you do is just completely ridiculous, and it's all done while you are in control of a Goat. At first glance, you may think this game looks stupid, but definitely do give it your time, because it's actually a lot of fun. did I mention they made an MMO out of this game. yeah, so that's a thing. Plus, the music is just so god damn catchy: |

I take it you've played The Last of Us, personally I now think that's one of the greatest games I've ever played.

The characterizations are some of the best I've seen in a video game, it's truly tense and scary at certain moments and you really feel part of the game, the use of equipment is rewarding too. The graphics, locations and use of seasons are pretty amazing as well. The game is very similar to the Walking Dead scenario but the zombies have a more 28 Days Later threat which makes them more dangerous and interestingly the zombies themselves are graded into different types.
