^agreed. Terraria is just a lot more rewarding and the 2D style compliments it really well. Plus...graphically, its fantastic.

Yea, it's all cute looking and pleasing to the eye and the music although looped compliments it well.

idk if you're into PBG but his Terraria playthrough is pretty entertaining.

Introducing...

So, I don't know if you know this, but i'm a pretty huge fan of The Binding of Isaac series. Between the two games, i've probably put in at least 200-300 hours. Unfortunately, I've kind of noticed a decline in the amount of time I play these games, but i'm always going back to them and it just feels amazing to play them whenever I have the time. I'm trying to get back into playing them again, more specifically Rebirth. So what i'm going to do alongside getting back into them, is I will be doing a weekly run through this journal. Basically, every week, i'll be doing a run or two of Rebirth and i'll talk about the highlights, whether or not I won, and how far I got, etc etc. It'll basically be as if i'm reviewing myself playing the game. I wanted to do this because it just seems like a fun thing to do and I don't really see any reason not to do it.

Hopefully in the near future, I will be attempting to doing videos on these weekly runs so that you don't just have to read what went down. For now though, i'll just be taking in game screenshots and those will be used more for the highlights of the runs that take place. This doesn't necessarily mean I won't be playing more than once a week, i'm going to be playing more regularly like I used to, but i'll be choosing a day each week that will be the "weekly run" day in which I will highlight the run or runs that took place that day.

To start things off, I will be talking about a run I had last night that I was so unfortunate to have lost it. And as we go along, i'm thinking i'll be doing the weekly runs on Friday nights, and will probably do the highlight post in this journal on that night, or the following morning.

Anyway, here's the description of my run last night (please keep in mind, I will be using words found within the game, and I won't be doing my best to define the words I use, if you play the game, you'll understand, and if you don't, just look it up on the wiki):

Overview of run taken place on 7/21/2015

Character of choice:

Eden

End result:
Loss at Isaac fight at the end of the Cathedral floor

Highlights / items worth mentioning:

After beating the second floor, I became Guppy which allowed me to sweep the next couple floors with taking nearly no damage. Unfortunately, my health was at an uncomfortable low with having only 1/2 a red heart with no soul hearts backing it up. This caused me to be a lot more cautious with my decisions with going into curse rooms / playing blood banks. Fortunately, before fighting one of the later game bosses, I picked up 2 black hearts and a soul heart, and this allowed me to play with more comfort up until the Cathedral, which as you read, I died. I ran into Bob's Brain which I had to make a tough decision because although I like the item, I had to let it go because my health was the main concern. Had I taken it, I would've seen a much earlier death than I had received.

Things I could have done differently

Around the 3rd floor and beyond, I was taking stupid damage, and wasn't taking advantage of the fact that the shops had soul hearts and bombs which would have allowed me to break open tinted rocks to get more soul hearts. I think my mind realized that since I had high damage with the guppy transformation, my health didn't matter. I would have had a much better outcome and would have made it to the chest had I been smarter and made sure my health was not a concern. Unfortunately, as my playing style is a bit rusty at the moment, i'm noticing that my gameplay isn't really reflective of the hours i've put into the game. Obviously with more practice, i'll be able to do much better.

Overall, it was a good run, and luck was on my side. Unfortunately it did turn out to be a loss. Hoping to have a better run next time.

Finally. Seeing as you were such a fan, I was wondering why there wasn't any Binding Of Isaac **** in this journal. You got a great idea here. I've only been playing for about a month and I still find it as addicting and fresh as the day I got it. I've still got like 40 items, and 76 secrets to find. Plus I've only done 60% of the trophies, so I'm going to be playing for a long while. Also, you heard about the Afterbirth DLC? More everything basically. That should be awesome. You made the right call with Bob's Brain. **** that item. I'll never use that item again. I'm pretty sure I've missed the Common Cold item a few times because of how much I fear Bob's Brain. But it seems like you had a great run all around. I'll be reading.

There's actually a surprising amount of times that it's useful to use Bob's Brain, but that usually comes out to about 20% of your runs. If you're not doing all that great defensively and you need something to throw a little extra damage, you can probably win the run with it, however in most cases, it's better not to take it. And yeah, i've heard about Afterbirth and i'm super stoked to see what they've got coming. The game is already amazing at is it, so it can only get better.

Eden

Basically, I wanted to redeem myself from the last run that I did, and man oh man did I pretty much own the game like it was nothing. Everything was on my side when it came to deals with the devil, to certain items in the treasure room and all that. I took some screenshots to give you an idea of what kind of run I had. All in all, a fantastic run and one to remember for sure:

Items I picked up along the way

Right before the blue baby fight (you can see the kind of build that I have)

Beating blue baby on the chest floor

Definitely a good way to end the week with a fantastic Isaac run overall. Really hoping for this kind of luck in the future.

Until next time.

Closing in on 300 hours of gameplay for Team Fortress 2, you'd think there could be nothing more that this game could offer. Well, you'd be wrong. Ever since Steam Workshop became a thing, this game with the updates from the dev team have made this game almost impossible to stop playing. Honestly, it's one of the only games i'll play when I wanna spend a few hours not really focusing on the game, but just having fun. I mean, just look at what I was doing last night with the BLU teams demoman:

Obviously I should have been paying attention to the objective of the game at hand, but it was around midnight and people in chat just considered it "late night tf2", and it was that way. It's even better when you play with friends, as I always do. I've made a lot of good online friends as well playing this game, and most if not all of them are still on my Steam friends list.

And yes, i'm totally down to play TF2 with the many MB members here. We could set up a server or raid a server and just cause havoc and humor wherever we go.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

Something i'm starting to notice time and time again is if the word "Bethesda" is anywhere near the title of a game, be it a publisher or the creator, it's an instant love for me. I've been playing a lot of games of that nature like Dishonored and Fallout, and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is seriously no different in how quickly i've immersed into the story and gameplay. I won't go too much into the story because you can do a simple Google search and find it, but what I do want to say is how much i'm enjoying the overall feel of the game and how much fun i'm having from the first minute I started playing. From what I've noticed, much like Dishonored, there are two ways you can play through the game. You can be stealthy and be as quiet as possible and knife people to death, or you can just go all out and immerse yourself into the combat. Both strategies seem to work really well and the game doesn't really favor one or the other. It gives good opportunity for both, though i've noticed that combat is a much easier time because of the weapon choices, but again, combat is always easier because you're not trying to be quiet or listen to footsteps. I'll obviously try to do two play throughs with both play style as i've done with Dishonored. According to what i've read, this game is actually a standalone prequel, which is nice, because I wasn't entirely sure I wanted to dish out $59.99 for Wolfenstein: The New Order but from what i've heard, if I like this one, i'll like the other, so i'll end up purchasing it anyway when I come around to beating The Old Blood. I don't know if it's only me, but the voice for the main character seems to be a little bit "Duke Nukem"-esque. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but whenever he talks, it just comes off a little goofy. However, with everything else being done right with how you control the main character and the weapons you can find, the voice acting is just a tiny little gripe that I have. Graphically of course, the game could be better, but it could definitely be much worse. I do find some little weird graphical glitches happening time and time again...for example:

Fortunately, these things seem to just happen every now and again, but it never really makes the game unplayable, which is nice. Overall, it's still a fun experience to be able to see everything on Ultra settings, even if the graphics don't hold up. Again, just a small gripe. It doesn't make me enjoy the game any less than I am currently. At the end of the day, i'm really having a good time with this game, and i'm very happy I found this on sale because I probably would have looked past it and wouldn't have given it a chance. Now, for the time being, i'm off to kill some more Nazis that seem to have made their way into Castle Wolfenstein, we can't have that can we?

Yeah yeah, it's not been a weekly thing, I know. Give me a break. Anyway, instead of doing a run on The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, I decided to go back and play the original Binding of Isaac. I'll tell you right now, it did not go very well, and i've been trying to play more runs time and time again, and each time, just doesn't go well. Unfortunately for the original, Rebirth is just so much better and it's superiority really makes the original a lot more difficult to get into, with it having as many flaws as it has. However, it being the original will always be a thing that it has to it's name, and will probably never be forgotten as being one of the best rogue-like game to come out. Anyway, let's talk about the run shall we?

My character of choice was...

Samson

Now, a lot of people know Samson for his ability of Bloody Lust, which is an amazing ability to have especially if you can someone manage to regenerate your health on a regular basis. However, that is a lot more difficult in the original game. When Rebirth was released, Samson actually became a lot more fun to play, because the Bloody Lust ability didn't just effect one room like it does in the original, instead it effects the entire floor. Now, if you know what ability i'm talking about, you'll realize that being able to take damage on the first floor with Bloody Lust in tact, can make for a very powerful and high damage floor, especially if you can pick up a Book of Revelations / Satanic Bible on the first floor, you're pretty much sitting pretty for the rest of the run. Unfortunately, that's for Rebirth. In the original Binding of Isaac, if you get hit on a room with Samson, Bloody Lust will boost your damage a little bit each time you get hit, however if you leave that room, the boost resets itself meaning you have to take the same damage again to boost your damage, unless you pick up an item that boosts it anyway. This almost causes Bloody Lust to be completely useless and less fun especially if you're used to the way Samson works in Rebirth, which I am.

Anyway, I managed to kill the first floor boss which was a champion version of Pin, and any version of Pin is pretty easy, you just have to know simple dodges and when to hit as many shots as possible to bring down the most HP, my reward for the fight was Pentagram, which is a permanent damage boost. It was nice for a while until I got to the second floor boss fight with Famine

I died in one hit, and that was the end of the run. It's unfortunate, because with picking up Pentagram as the first boss item, my chances of deals with the devil throughout the run were better than they would have been otherwise. I could have been overpowered by the third floor, but unfortunately i'm just not used to the style of the original game, and that's what caused my death.

I will plan to put more time into the original as it was and is still a pretty fun game to play from time to time. It's got its flaws, but it definitely still holds a lot of sentimental value to a lot of gamers, myself included. Hell, Rebirth would have never existed if it weren't for this game. Maybe. It may have still existed. I don't know.

So, for those for you that play Team Fortress 2 regularly, you'd know about this update by now as it's been pushed to practically everybody. It's their new big thing right now. There's been a lot of things that they've done to really make the game as good as it can get, and this particular update is no exception. There's been class changes, new maps, new weapons, and all kinds of cool things to mess around with to sort of revive the interest of a lot of players who have at least 300-400 hours of playtime like myself. However, there's one thing that this update brought and it's something I really really don't like. It may just be a stupid thing to hate, but it's justified.

WEAPON SKINS

Now, if you're like me and you play a lot of Team Fortress 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive, you'd be in the same opinion as me probably in which I think both games are great because they're different in their own way, but they're very fun in their own special ways. Team Fortress 2 now has weapon skins, and it's not just something sort of similar to CS:GO, it's pretty much a direct copy of CS:GO. I've never really been a fan of having "rare weapon skins" in FPS games, because than the game becomes less about the gameplay, and more about who looks better with what. Yes, I know Team Fortress 2 has hats, shut up, hats are cool. Anyway, I just don't see why they had to go and bother taking something from another game, and putting it into a game that really has no place for it. Team Fortress is goofy and an all around fun game, whereas CS:GO is a little bit more serious and competitive. To add something like this to TF2 would be like adding hats to CS:GO. It just wouldn't work. Other than this, the update has been fantastic. The new maps are great, the new class changes are also great, and it could have been the perfect update, if it wasn't for the stupid gun rarities.
