I did every side mission on ME1 and frankly wanted more, i also liked doing every side mission on AC:Brotherhood to complete the map and own all of the shops but doing so distracted me from the main story and i never finished it.

Try playing through Mass Effect again. If you're like me, and you have to do every single side mission as soon as they become available before doing anything else, the Citadel becomes so ****ing tedious. And halfway through exploring all the worlds you just want the game to be over. First couple times playing through it was like sex, but after that it only goes downhill. Way too much downtime inbetween missions.

Pretty sure like 30% of the average player's gametime on Mass Effect comes from waiting in the elevators

In the first one, yes. In the other two, the elevators are just obnoxiously long loading screens. Mass Effect 2 has quite possibly the longest loading screens of any game I have ever played. I love those games, but there is so much that is just mind-numbingly tedious about them.

I actually don't recall any notably awful loads in ME2. I'll certainly never forget those elevators though, how utterly obnoxious.

Can't wait to see what ME4 will be like!

I'm assuming like an even less good 3. I liked 3 more than a lot of people, but I still dread 4 becoming a full CoD crossover.

The hate for 3 seems completely based on the original ending which admittedly I view as one of the most underwhelming endings in the history of any medium of storystelling, but still as a video game it was fantastic and frankly had the best gameplay in the series. And honestly the story remained excellent until the last half hour or so and I can't deny that it had me equally as immersed as the other two games. I just don't think the ending should define the entire experience.

I really have no choice but to have enormously high hopes for ME4 given how impactful the original trilogy was on my life for about 5 straight years. Since none of them have come even close to underwhelming me overall I have no reason to be afraid of them screwing up yet.

Does ME3 have the same equipment system as ME2?

i initially planned on buying the trilogy but ME2 equipment system disappointed so much i honestly can't enjoy the game cause of it. they also changed how you level up to a more restricted chapter way, everything that was good about ME1 was streamlined and dumbed down, i luved ME1 so much i wanna enjoy the franchise regardless that they changed the original system but i don't think i can.

The gameplay was the most polished, as 1 was basic at best, and two was kind of rock, paper, scissor with the armor, shield, and biotic barrier thing, but the gameplay in 3 was way too unbalanced. The powers were great in 2, and made the game much more tactical than the first game, but the developers clearly paid almost no attention to designing the game for anything but the soldier class.

On Insanity, playing as a Vanguard or an Infiltrator was a joke. No challenge whatsoever. The options for upgrading the powers were great, but there wasn't really much payoff when you could beat the game like a redheaded stepchild regardless. I actually found myself taking weaker powers as an Infiltrator, just to give myself more of a challenge, but I still walked all over pretty much everything.

And Vanguard? It was like a God Mode cheat. You could literally clear an entire map in seconds, without every worrying about getting hit. You could even engage a mech at point blank range and win every time. Wouldn't have been so bad, but there was so little variation to the Vanguard's move set that I was just doing the same thing, over and over again. It just got to be dull.

Paranautical Activity

This game is awesome. It came out roughly around the time that I was really starting to find my love of rogue-like games like The Binding of Isaac. I mean, I knew of the genre, but I wasn't too familiar with the mechanics etc. This game takes that concept and really goes a different way with it, but in such a cool way. Paranautical Activity in simple words is a rogue-like quake style cube world-esque first person shooter game. That may seem a little overwhelming, but trust me, the developer for this really made it work, and with the addition of such an awesome soundtrack done by macaskill really makes the game as good as I think it is. The one thing I really like about it however is how freakin' difficult it is. I mean, I've had the game since it's initial release back in October of 2014, and I've yet to be able to get past the first level, or floor, or whatever you wanna call it. It's not so much that the gameplay mechanics are hard to get used to, the enemies are at a pretty high level of difficulty, which I personally really like. The game basically makes you learn how to adapt and figure your way out of sticky situations from the get go, and it being a random generated style game, makes it even more difficult, because you don't know what boss you'll be put up against, or if you've ever even seen the boss before.

If you're still not sold on it, think of this game as a first person shooter Binding of Isaac. It's got the upgrades throughout the floors, the boss rooms, the treasure rooms, etc etc. However at the same time, I don't want to say that it's copying Binding of Isaac necessarily, it's just using a popular form of gameplay and using it for the sake of making a great game. I do sincerely hope that the developer keep up the good work on this game, because it really is a remarkable work of art that they've created. Everything about the game works smoothly and wonderfully and as mentioned, the soundtrack just makes the experience that better.

The equipment system is the best of the series. You get armor that is both cool to look at and actually gives you stat bonuses worth a damn. You get mad weapons to use too.

The RPG elements are also the best in the game. In the second one they were dumbed down, but I don't know why people give a **** about the RPG **** from the first game. You could pretty much max out most every attribute, so it's not like you really had a customized character, most of the abilities you could use were boring, and the only real difference most stat increases did were largely unnoticable and therefore also boring.

3 gave you far more choices to upgrade than in 2, while the abilities you could learn were actually useful and fun to use.
