I don't mind Lana Del Rey. You mentioned in your first post that Rey criticized Lady Gaga's authenticity. It's hard not to agree with her.
A Madonna clone in an egg: ^^ I'm able to separate the schtick from the music, but this is just ridiculous. I guess the opposite for Rey would be performing live in a cemetery. I don't know enough about Lorde to comment. Sure, Rey has a schtick, and I do find some of her "inner-turmoiled" lyrics to be a bit disingenuous, but it's not something I haven't heard before. It's also not something that isn't done by a ton of other artists, both solo acts and groups combined. She's playing up a certain persona for her audience as much as any of the rest of them. Maybe she really is that way? One of Rey's complaints is that she isn't more famous, so maybe the schtick isn't working that well for her? Quote:
I see your points. I do. I just see more egregious offenses than Lana Del Rey. I also try not to mix my music with my politics. Way more fun that way. . There's enough good electronic music out there to where you don't have to pay attention any of the three. |
