How about Progressive Rock? You into that at all? Classical? AOR? Ambient?
I thought that might be more what he meant, but I wasn't sure haha.

Yes, I actually do like Progressive Rock, I listen to a few bands in the genre but would love to be exposed to more bands, not so much the popular ones, but also the more obscure bands in the genre. I haven't dabbled much in the Classical genre, actually I'm not too familiar with it outside of what I've heard family listen to when I was little. AOR I know a little of, but still not too familiar with it but would like to dabble it that as well. Ambient? Yeah, I think I have listened to some bands that fall under that, just not too familiar with a lot of it though so feel free to suggest something from each genre you mentioned.

Here are some good classical recommendations:

Arnold Schoenberg - Orchestral Pieces

Gyorgy Ligeti - Chamber Music

With your taste for nu metal I figure I'll suggest some trashy rap for idiots like you and me.

Twiztid - Mostasteless

Insane Clown Posse - The Great Malenko

Rehab - Graffiti the World (If you're redneck white trash then this is the crappy rap for you.)

Tech N9ne - Absolute Power (He may be a better rapper than ICP or Twiztid, but he appeals to the same people.)

Actual Good Rap for Angry White Boys...

Necro - The Pre-Fix for Death

Ill Bill - The Hour of Reprisal

RA tha Rugged Man - Die, Rugged Man, Die

Jedi Mind Tricks - Servants in Heaven, Kings in Hell

Checking them out after I get home from work. Thanks Frownland! Keep'em coming. Pretty excited to dive in to Classical music!

Don't worry folks! Listening to these suggestions, just taking it all in and gather my thoughts. I should have something up for review soon.

I'm not even a fan of country, but these caught my attention.

As for prog rock, assuming you haven't already heard these:

Fact and fiction by Twelfth Night

A tower of silence by Anubis
and of course

Script for a jester's tear by Marillion

If you like a bit of folk with your prog, try

Heart full of sky by Mostly Autumn
or for something with a bit of metal in it,

Subsurface by Threshold
and

Room V by Shadow Gallery

I thought I was in the Awful Album Artwork Gallery thread for a moment then.

And i'm slightly bored of posting the same Hip Hop (ish) recs to everyone so I'll hit you with a few I don't see around much.

Tha Alkaholiks - 21 & Over

Das EFX - Dead Serious

13 & God - 13 & God

Infinite Livez vs. Stade - Morgan Freeman's Psychedelic Semen

B L A C K I E - True Spirit and Not Giving a Fuck

So!

Here is a summary of what I thought about what has been recommended to me thus far...

Overall, I liked everything that was recommended. The rap was a little hard for me to get a taste for, but I started having fun with it so that gave me a way to connect with it. The classical I thought was awesome! Relaxing and perfect for when I am reading, I certainly want more recommendations for that. Bob Dylan was awesome, love how he writes his music. The progressive stuff you recommended Trollheart, I liked it all, but I have always liked prog, I just need to explore more of it outside of what I know.

So, good job everyone. Mostly all of this stuff were hits for me. So please recommended more!
