I don't care what you think of that one song, but Springsteen is a god and you're wrong to hate him.

Hades was a god too and he still sucked.

When it comes to matters of opinion, can someone truly be "right" or "wrong"? Regardless, Springsteen is just a man, and one that is rather limited artistically, though they have the default amount of respect that I give every artist willing to share their work. I realize that I can be rather vocal about my disdain for him, but isn't honesty the greatest form of respect that you can show someone (or at least greater than false flattery)?

It wasn't an entirely serious statement. Obviously you're perfectly justified in not being a Springsteen fan, and obviously you should be willing to share that you have that opinion.

They're now playing "Take the Long Way Home". Again. Supertramp are probably one of my top ten favourite bands, but some variety would be appreciated.

We were just trying to write songs about prostitutes and lesbians, that's all.

Pet_Sounds' Top 50 Beatles Songs
#46: Day Tripper

This song is only on the list because of its riff. Well, that's obvious. But that riff is good enough to place it at #46.

"Day Tripper" was 50% of the very first double A-side single. The other 50% was "We Can Work It Out". Both tracks were recorded during the Rubber Soul sessions and had the distinction of being Great Britain's 1965 Christmas #1.

Its lyrics are all about sex and drugs. A "day tripper" referred to someone who was not quite committed to drugs. And of course, the second meaning of "trip" created a nice double entendre. "Big teaser" was originally "prick teaser".

She's a prick teaser
She took me half the way there
She's a prick teaser
She took me half the way there

I'll leave that up to you to interpret.

Here's the original version, along with some neat covers by Jimi Hendrix and Fever Tree.

Spoiler for YouTube:

Pet_Sounds presents…

Polar Opposites

The Smiths - "Meat Is Murder"

Do you know how animals die?
Kitchen aromas aren't very homely
It's not comforting, cheery, or kind
It's the sizzling unholy stench
Of MURDER
It's not natural, normal, or kind
The flesh you so fancifully fry
The meat in your mouth
As you savour the flavour
Of MURDER

--------------------------

Jimmy Buffett - "Cheeseburger in Paradise"

Tried to amend my carnivorous habits
Made it nearly seventy days
Losing weight without speed, eating sunflower seeds
Drinking lots of carrot juice and soaking up the rays
But at night I'd have these wonderful dreams
Some kind of sensuous treat
Not zuchinni, fettucini, or bulgur wheat
But a big warm bun and a huge hunk of meat!
