I didn't know you liked Mew! Great band. Although I prefer "And the Glass Handed Kites"

The Mew album is good, but I'm surprised to see it #1 on your list.

The Viktor Vaughn album is likely my favorite MF DOOM release.

It's just not very memorable aside from a few tracks. I probably rate it a little higher than I should in all honesty.

2004

http://www.birdmanrecords.com/grisgr...ris-st-173.jpg

10. William Shatner - Has Been
9. Kings of Leon - Aha Shake Heartbreak
8. DJ Krush - 寂 Jaku
7. cLOUDDEAD - Ten
6. MF DOOM - Mm.. Food
5. DJ Wally - Emulatory Whoredom
4. Mastodon - Leviathan
3. The Black Keys - Rubber Factory
2. Madvillain - Madvillainy
1. The Gris Gris - The Gris Gris

So, I've not done one of these in a while. But I think it's back with a bang! Two all-time classics leading the way at the top, and the #1 being a surprise to a few no doubt. Lagging behind, we have an awesome Black keys record and a mammoth Mastodon release. Damn, great Trip Hop/Hip Hop records were released this year. My man Shatner edging his good self onto the list too. All around, this is a list of very high quality.

I feel the 2000s is the first area where my lists would be radically different. I think there's so much on offer from that point onwards that these lists can start going in all sorts of directions.

Goofle 03-08-2015 07:11 PM

No doubt. By nature I have tended to look past certain artists, choosing to look for lesser known quantities. Obviously that isn't unwavering, as my lists would indicate. But I think it goes to show the variety of music being released in this period.

This is probably the right time to tell you I took your Gris Gris recommendation and loved it. One of the best albums of the 21st century so far.

You planning to take the "11" out of your title anytime soon?

Goofle 03-08-2015 09:42 PM

I was thinking about that when I approved the post.

simplephysics 03-08-2015 09:55 PM

Damn, 2004 was a good year. Lotta great albums on that list. Ten, Madvilliany, Rubber Factory... even Shatner. His spoken word stuff is so, so entertaining.

Really dig the Madvillain, MF DOOM, and Mastodon. I was just coming here to revive my journal, glad to see you've revived yours as well.
