10. Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele 9. Funkstörung - Appetite for Disctruction 8. Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP 7. OutKast - Stankonia 6. Discordance Axis - The Inalienable Dreamless 5. KMD - Black Bastards 4. Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030 3. Electric Wizard - Dopethrone 2. Godspeed You Black Emperor! - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven! 1. Boom Bip & Dose One - Circle A new decade and great list to start it off. I listen to most of these albums on a semi-regular basis at least, which is a testament to how good these records are. Leading the pack is probably my greatest "find" of all time. An album I had heard literally nothing about before picking it up at a record store based on the weird album cover, and being in the Hip Hop section (looking kinda out of place). Circle an incredibly weird experience, filled with abstract rhymes from Doseone, and some of the strangest "Hip Hop" production by Boom Bip. Check it out if you haven't. As for the rest, it's high quality from top to bottom.

10. Solex - Low Kick and Hard Bop 9. Holly Golightly - The Main Attraction 8. Nas - Stillmatic 7. Converge - Jane Doe 6. Circus Contraption - Our Latest Catalogue 5. Fantômas - The Director's Cut 4. The Whitefield Brothers - In the Raw 3. Techno Animal - The Brotherhood of the Bomb 2. Unwound - Leaves Turn Inside You 1. Aesop Rock - Labor Days This is a strange year for me. It contains my favourite album of all time, so of course it's significant. And all of the albums listed here are at least very good in my opinion. But I simply don't listen to most of them much at all. Obviously it's hard to listen to hundreds of albums on a regular basis, but I don't even feel the need to check most of these out again. Not sure why. Regardless, decent variety on show, from funk (Whitefield Brothers), to Hip Hop (Nas/Aesop Rock) and dark cabaret (Circus Contraption). Every album here is worth checking out.

10. RJD2 - Deadringer 9. Sage Francis - Personal Journals 8. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Yanqui U.X.O. 7. Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man - Out of Season 6. Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf 5. Busdriver - Temporary Forever 4. Agalloch - The Mantle 3. The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots 2. The Roots - Phrenology 1. El-P - Fantastic Damage Quite the year if I do say so myself. Some amazing Hip Hop records, classic rock/metal and other styles thrown in. I could have selected quite a few other personal favourites too, which is a testament to the quality on show. I think everyone reading this knows how much I love that EL-P album, it's probably in my Top 5 albums of all time. Phrenology is my favourite Roots album (no mean feat), and I my favourite Flaming Lips record creeps in just behind. And after recently getting back into QOTSA, one of their best records rightly claims a spot in this list. Overall a fantastic year, with stellar albums from top to bottom.

10. Dizzee Rascal - Boy in da Corner 9. The Black Keys - Thickfreakness 8. Sleep - Dopesmoker 7. OutKast - Speakerboxxx / The Love Below 6. Guided by Voices - Hardcore UFOs: Revelations, Epiphanies and Fast Food in the Western Hemisphere 5. Viktor Vaughn - Vaudeville Villain 4. Brother Ali - Shadows on the Sun 3. 椎名林檎 [Shiina Ringo] - 加爾基 精液 栗ノ花 (Karuki Zamen Kuri no Hana) 2. DJ Shadow - Diminishing Returns 1. Mew - Frengers I was kinda surprised when I looked at 2003 and saw just how many albums I absolutely loved. Sure, none of my 5* classics are included here (unlike the previous two, and the upcoming year), but hot damn if I don't absolutely adore everything on this list, and several that didn't make it. Mew are arguably my favourite Dream-Pop group, and this is their best album to me. But it was a tough decision to place it ahead of many great albums. In the end, I went with it because I have listened to that album the most. Also, I recently re-discovered a lot of Dizzee Rascal's music (thanks to monkeyballteke) and it just all came back. Great record.
