Welp, just like that, I am again interested in Maiden. Those songs are all great.

Variations On A Theme - OM
Genre: Stoner Metal, Doom Metal, Psychedelic, Sludge Metal.
Released: 2005
Position In Discography: Debut album

Following the breakup of Sleep, singer and bass player Al Cisneros picked up the bong, wiped off the dust, recruited former Sleep drumer Chris Hakius, and continued the smoke-filled journey started by the former band. "On the Mountain At Dawn" begins appropriately doomy, and slowly increases in tempo over its 20-minute run. It is at this point that I must remark that like High On Fire, anything released by Sleep members will instantly be compared to Jerusalem/Dopesmoker, at least, that is what I do, and Om is considerably more a psychedelic band than the doom metal leanings of Sleep. After initially being disappointed by that fact the first time I listened to this, I went back and gave it another listen and now I respect this album as a great release in a different realm of stoner doom metal, while still being as drony and spacey as Sleep.

It just takes a few listens. It's not as accessible as their earlier albums, but eventually it all makes sense.

Dejection, Unclean - Asbestosdeath
Released: 1990
Style:

Asbestosdeath is the forerunner to Sleep, and Dejection, Unclean together contain four tracks that are all that Asbestosdeath put out before the band changed their name to Sleep. The two releases are Lo-fi, hardcore-influenced doom metal, which is very different than what the band would later produce. "Nail" begins with a few notes played on guitar before the bass comes in. The song is not all that dissimilar from a track like "Black Sabbath," albeit with a noticeable hardcore sound to it. Sludge metal abounds on all the tracks, but particularly in track two, which is an instrumental. "Anguish" is an odd epic epic doom metal hybrid, and the last track for Unclean is "Suffering," which has some interesting riffs, and is very sludgy with a moderate tempo.

... for Asbestosdeath's short discography.

Viking metal isn't a musical genre, you twit. It's a description of lyrics. There is no such thing as Viking metal.

Leave Home - RAMONES

Genre: Punk Rock
Released: 1977
Position In Discography: Second album
With a dramatic change in sound over the debut, including faster tempos and much increased clarity for the vocals and instrumentation, this album sounds very different compared to Ramones' debut. If it was not for Joey's instantly recognizable voice, which also sounds tremendously different, it would be difficult for me to accept that this is the same band who recorded songs like the gloriously lo-fi and edgy "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue." Honestly, that is my biggest complaint with this album is the recording: I much preferred, hell, I loved how the previous album sounded. The songwriting also bothers me, whether it is because of the increased tempo I am not sure, but there is too much singing on most of the tracks.

There is only one song on this album that I love, which is abysmal compared to how many songs I loved from the prior album, but it is "Carbona Not Glue," which sounds closer to the prior album, and not like "What's Your Game" and "You're Gonna Kill That Girl," which I really dislike. "Commando," "Glad To See You Go," and "Gimmie Gimmie Shock Treatment" are my other favorites, but the rest of the tracks range from average, to pedestrian.

Next you're going to tell me NWOBHM isn't a genre. My brain can't handle these plot twists.

Alright then, explain to me exactly what Viking metal is, besides lyrics.
