Default Planktons - What The Hell Am I Listening To?

Eh? Wuzzat you say?

A journal for music that I'm diggin, not diggin, or just turning something on for background noise.

Lets begin:

One of the best live YooToob videos I've watched in a while. Susans voice is as powerful as it's ever been, and Derek adds the virtuoso touch that I look for in most of the music I like. Outstanding live performance by the entire band.

Hey, great to see you start another journal man! But don't leave us in suspense as to the fate of young "Guitar God" Plankton, sure ya won't?

I'm working my way from both ends, and will meet up in the middle.

Kind of.

Been meaning to start this for a while now. Mostly for my benefit, for those times when I have the 'what the hell was that song again' conniption. I listen to a lot of music at work, and usually don't have time to pour through bookmarks looking for a tune. This makes a nice placeholder for me.

I got this DVD from a friend a few years back. Pretty good for an acoustic set, and of course Sully's bongo skills are pretty freakin good too.

Good morning.

So, some after-lunch listening. I had this one on cassette back in the early 90's.

Some monster players on this, including Reb Beach of "Winger" fame who went and played one of my all-time favorite guitar solo's on the Karma album. The last solo on the album is his best work. I get goose bumps every time I hear it:

I saw Derek Trucks open for somebody that escapes my mind. Holy cow, the sound he gets from that SG through a super reverb was scary. I was blown away and inspired yet discouraged. Think he was very early twenties at the time. Bastard.

He's a rough one to keep up with. I got nothing but respect for the man.

Todays listening: LITE
