Sorry to hear, Dianne - it's anxiety-inducing to have to wait so long for test results you are concerned about. Hope you get good results sooner rather than any later. :(

If you're a fan of Yes then this is a required watch. An absolutely brilliant performance and Trevor Rabin has now shot up to take a spot in my top 5 guitar players. I'm in awe of his seamless transitions and flawless execution. Everyone shines in this though. Just wow.

We used to play this tune in a band I was in and for the life of me I could never find the original to see what the heck I was supposed to play, so I just did my own thing. I forgot about it and years went by, when today it came over the sirius airwaves and it sparked a memory (*zzzzt* *smell of burning wires*), so I went looking for it. We played a more subdued version.

My goal to get my guitar chops back into shape is to play along with this as much as possible without my hand spontaneously combusting:

Alot.

I stumbled onto a similar pattern to this while noodling around on guitar years ago and then after hearing it at the end of Napoleon Dynamite I started piecing it together a bit. I'm thinking of learning the whole score to put it in my setlist for an OM I'll be doing sometime in Feb or March.

Getting in some recording time at a friends place. This was last week, testing his rig tracking with my Schecter, which I brought over to store there after the fire took my place out. He put on a mix he was working on and I did some dry noodling over it and then he added the verb/delay. I'm bringing my 'Plan B' rig over there tonight, which is my PRS and Vox Tonelab ST. Gonna melt some faces.

Pekin is a bit of a journey from me, but it's right next to where Ledgestone is played. Maybe some day the planets will align and they'll be playing out that way during the tournament. Would be a hoot.

Some footage from where I grew up. I was 10-11 when this was recorded and had no clue who the hell they were, but apparently they played the Night Gallery in Waukegan in 1977.

Like this:

Since the conversation was diverting from the topic of 10cc, I thought I could continue here? I don't want to spam the 10cc thread. So ... What do you mean by "widdly diddly doo's?" Is it riffing or soloing? Is It sweeping? Is djent or related to it? Is it the amount or type of distortion?

I didn't make it through the whole Marc Rizzo video. Flamenco Djent or Salsa Sweeping (or whatever it's called) isn't my thing, sorry. I hope you don't become disjointed by me saying that ... or should I say 'disdjented?'

Anyways, I recently found this video and thought I would share. I'm not saying it's better than Rizzo's song. It's just that the video showcases some of the things I prefer. Guitar playing-wise: I think this is a good example as any of using clean guitar sound. To me it could easily be The Ventures doing a cover of a Mason Williams song but it's her own composition AFAIK.

No problem buddy.

From just a quick skim through that vid, it's sounds a bit stiff and sterile. There's no meat to it and she seems to be phoning it in. Sure it's nice, but it just doesn't 'do it' for me musically. I'm weird, jaded, and set in my ways though.

When I say widdly diddly doo's (a term coined by Frownland), I'm talking about sweeping arpeggio's with tremolo picking. The kind that Malmsteen brought into the spotlight and now so many others have mastered like Guthrie Govan. I was also being a bit facetious, but there's still some truth to what I was getting at.

I think I've seen you mention that you play guitar, but I'm not sure, so I have no clue if you know what it feels like to play heartfelt solo's and technically brilliant passages like this:
