I didn't make it through the whole Marc Rizzo video. Flamenco Djent or Salsa Sweeping (or whatever it's called) isn't my thing, sorry. I hope you don't become disjointed by me saying that ... or should I say 'disdjented?' Anyways, I recently found this video and thought I would share. I'm not saying it's better than Rizzo's song. It's just that the video showcases some of the things I prefer. Guitar playing-wise: I think this is a good example as any of using clean guitar sound. To me it could easily be The Ventures doing a cover of a Mason Williams song but it's her own composition AFAIK. Alyona Vargasova - Faster Than Mercury

No problem buddy.
From just a quick skim through that vid, it's sounds a bit stiff and sterile. There's no meat to it and she seems to be phoning it in. Sure it's nice, but it just doesn't 'do it' for me musically. I'm weird, jaded, and set in my ways though. When I say widdly diddly doo's (a term coined by Frownland), I'm talking about sweeping arpeggio's with tremolo picking. The kind that Malmsteen brought into the spotlight and now so many others have mastered like Guthrie Govan. I was also being a bit facetious, but there's still some truth to what I was getting at. I think I've seen you mention that you play guitar, but I'm not sure, so I have no clue if you know what it feels like to play heartfelt solo's and technically brilliant passages like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7k07j7LcLqw

Short and funky jams are just what the Dr ordered on this fine Monday morning:

So to answer your question I know both sides of the coin. I know the pain and humiliation of being a subpar guitar player playing in public. But I know what feels like playing my heart out of a song because I think it's the cat's pajamas ... and maybe be lucky enough to get a compliment. Duane Eddy - Anytime Quote:

Following up a bit... I have a lot of respect for players that don't feel the need to play fast, technical pieces and just play what feels right for the moment. Some of my favorite solo's and tunes are just simple sections and riffs, but very well placed and they convey what they're supposed to without the "Look what I can do!" mindset. They set aside ego and create a shared feeling without having to be better then everyone. They connect rather than set apart. It's a beautiful thing.

It seems Steve tore a tendon while making pizza last year. 2 hands are overrated... I guess.
