The 4th track Take me tonight is energetic but nothing special however the 5th In need is f*ckin awesome

Why is it awesome? well first of all it starts with what sounds like a bong hit and then it goes to a choppy broken beat.
this is song is very minimalistic and slightly absurd but that's why i like it.

Midway through the song she sounds like she's having a breakdown and the bass in that part echoes that feeling but she's fine, she just needs her doses to calm her nerves.

From there let's skip to track 10 Party

This is the sexiest song Kas product ever made, the lyrics and instrumentation really capture the mood of the song perfectly.

To end this review, i wanna say that although Kas product's body of work is not perfect it has a special something that has led to the band having a small cult following. Not only is Spaz a great producer Mona soyoc is one of the best female performers ive ever seen.

Thumbs up Guitar stuff

This is not a really review on anything it's more like an entry for guitar playing in general.

Ive been playing guitar for like 14 yrs but until recently i never cared much for technique. ive mostly focused on making simple rhythm guitar riffs and simple melodic vocals but ever since i heard Django reinhardt ive suddenly developed an interest in playing lead but not just that, just in making better guitar compositions in general.

He's too advanced for me to emulate but despite that my interest in getting better at the guitar still remains and today ive been indulging that interest like crazy and found a couple of guitar tricks vids i found amusing

This is the song that got me into The Smiths and it was mainly the guitar that did it.
i first heard this song in my friend's car and i remember making him play it 4 times in a row cause the vibe the guitar gave off was like dessert for my hears.

Hearing how spontaneous the song came to be is a trip.

Now idk who this St vincent chick is but her finger picking is frickin awesome and so is her hair and whole demeanor really, she's just awesome all around.

if i had heard her play that stuff on a record i would've thought she was using an effect pedal and i wouldn't have been impressed but seeing her take you step by step on how it's played makes me appreciate the effort that goes into it, the same goes for this vid

This guy i know but what i didn't know is just how good he really is at the guitar.
QOTSA is a good band with good guitar riffs but i never viewed Josh as a particularly talented guitar player but hearing how he studied Jimmy page and doing the Hendrix bend which btw i didn't know was a thing, made me realise, idk sh*t about guitar playing.

I have so much too learn about strumming, tapping, Major & Minor chords, just basic sh*t i learned half assedly and never cared to perfect.

I want to review an album ive been listening to alot lately

Suburban lawns (Self titled)

Like Kas product, i don't really know much about this band and just like Kas product their wiki page doesn't really have alot of info on them, it doesn't even have their discography leading me to believe this is probably the only album they ever released.

here's a bit about them

"Suburban Lawns were a post-punk band formed in Long Beach, California in 1978 by CalArts students William "Vex Billingsgate" Ranson and Sue "Su Tissue" McLane. They later recruited Richard "Frankie Ennui" Whitney, Charles "Chuck Roast" Rodriguez, and John "John Gleur" McBurney."

The only reference i have to this band is that when i was younger i had a post punk mix cd that a friend gave me and it had their song Janitor

At the time, i had no idea who made the track.

It's only on recent years ive taken a real interest in post punk new wave bands but i remember really liking Su Tissue's vocals in that Janitor song so i seeked them out and Holy sh*t was it worth it, this album is phenomenal (if you're into new wave that is)
  • track listing:

    Flying Saucer Safari
    Pioneers *
    Not Allowed
    Gossip
    Intellectual Rock
    Protection*
    Anything *
    Janitor
    Computer Date
Mom And Dad And God *
    Unable
    When In The World
    Green Eyes
    Jam The Controls*

(Those marked with the '*' are my favorite tracks from the album)

Flying saucer safari: though not among my favorites, this track is a decent new wave song to kick the album off

Pioneers

Great track, i like the abrupt pauses in this song and the silly vocal it has.

Not allowed: Another great track, It's a spoken word song with a good rhythm section behind it

Gossip: Also a solid track with Su's vocals and haunting guitars

Intelectual Rock: Call me dumb but i don't like this song

Protection

Another spoken word song, this song reminds me that hipsters have always been and forever will be~

Anything

Im currently obsessed with this song, This reminds me of old school british punk bands and i luv the melody of the vocals and the whole feel of the song.

Computer date: Don't like this song but i do find the subject in it interesting cause it talks about cyber dating something that's common now but back then was fairly unknown.

Mom and dad and god: Sung from the perspective of a kid who's into New wave Ska, great song.

Unable: Not a bad track but falls a little short to being good.

Where in the world & Green eyes: More of the same

And finally..

Jam the controls

The best song of the album imo.

If you like The Talking Heads or even bands like The jam you should give this album a try.
These guys are brilliant, quirky and just good musicians. Though i still don't know much about them i did read this album was well received among critics but for some reason they didn't become very popular or had a long career which is a shame cause they were a very good band.
