If you like Brubeck you'll probably also like Vince Guaraldi, most famous for his Peanuts tunes. Everybody listens to these things and thinks, like, "Peanuts!" with maybe a bit of a chuckle. But really, they're great jazz pieces.

Yep Troll dear boy, that's definitely a jazz-fusion album. As I've mentioned to you on prior occasions though, Metheny has done some absolutely amazing albums with his Group that I know you'd like more than Offramp. Hell, I even reviewed his 2005 outing The Way Up on my smooth jazz journal awhile back.

I'd recommend any of the following (among others) to you if your ever in the mood for some bona fide classics from his canon:

Still Life (Talking) (1987)

Letter From Home (1989)

We Live Here (1995)

Speaking Of Now (2002)

I grew up on my mom's jazz collection and have moved on to my own path in this very varied genre. Here are a few you may enjoy or not. Tenor Madness: Sonny Rollins Quartet/ Soul: Coleman Hawkins/ More Study in Brown: Max Roach Quintet and Clifford Brown and one that is a bit out of the box- Out Here Like This...: The Leaders.

Yeah. I should perhaps point out that I've abandoned this journal, as no matter how much I try I not only can't get into jazz, I really don't want to, and I have more than enough work in front of me listening to and reviewing music that I want to hear without struggling through music I'm supposed to like, try or get to enjoy.

I gave it a shot but my heart is definitely not in it, so there will be no more entries in this journal, and I'd appreciate it if, if it's possible, it could be closed by a mod and just allowed to sink into the depths of obscurity.

Thanks.

You're not getting off the hook that easily my friend. You need to check out Billy Cobham - Spectrum, then you may be excused.
