Your journal makes me wanna listen to some of these bands (Despite not being able to watch the videos due to being on my 3DS), particularly the Alkaline Trio and The Movielife. Too bad there's probably not a decent place to go find their music in this state, unless there's a mystical CD store I don't know about. Anyways, yeah, excellant job!

I feel kinda lame listening to The Movielife. They give a more teenage feel to handling girl problems or whatever. But Alkaline Trio is really timeless to me. Matt Skiba shredded his vocal chords over the years with his aggressive singing style and their last 2-3 albums have been noticeably more poppy. They've lost their punk style roots over the years, but I will always think their first few albums are titties. The depressive, alcohol fueled lyrics don't feel like forced poetry shart like a lot of music (even bands I like). It feels less woe-is-me and more fuck this shit. Speaking of Alkaline Trio, their lead singer is Matt Skiba. For those not in-the-know, Skiba has been in a bunch of side projects. Most notably, or not-notably because they blow fat cocks, Heavens and Matt Skiba and the Sekrets. Don't listen to either, it will taint your image of him. It's like watching Jordan ball for the Wizards or Jerry Rice's skeleton run routes for Seattle. It's painful. But, his solo stuff owns. In 2002, (thanks Wikipedia) Skiba released this Split CD thing with Kevin Seconds from 7 Seconds (eh, he's alright). Skiba has 5 songs on it, and every one is killer. The bassist/occasional singer from Alkaline Trio has a weird voice, kinda lispy. So his pussy-ass isn't in the solo stuff. Here are my two favorites from the Split. In Your Wake Song about kicking heroin: Good Fucking Bye There was a bunch of stuff the past few weeks I thought about posting here that I found contributed to the Pussification of America, but I'm tired. Also just a lot of ridiculous bullshit from feminists, vegans, etc. I was kinda hoping more people would be up-in-arms about the Jameis Winston rape situation so I could make fun of them, but feminists seem relatively intelligent on that issue. Got the next few days off, expect more updates this weekend. I know you are all eagerly waiting with your asses barely on the edge of your seats. |

Today I had the unfortunate circumstance of taking my car for inspection, which it failed miserably. I could have laid $350 in my toilet and watch it swirl away with my turds, but at least I have a safer car now. The most unfortunate part was that I was stuck at the mechanic for a few hours since I didn't have a ride and didn't know when he would be finished. I walked to get food, but came back and flipped on their little 22 inch TV in the waiting area to kill some time.
Basic cable. Those peasants. I had the brain-racking decision between QVC, Paternity Court, or Dr. Phil. Paternity Court gave me some lols, but I felt like I was cheating on a certain Judge Judith Sheindlin, which led me to the beginning of a Dr. Phil episode. There were 2 parents on stage, with their hott, busty, blonde daughter between them. It piqued my interest despite the fact she was 16. I wanted to see what this little hoe had to say, though it was regrettably not on Jerry Springer. Basically, she was a pill popping slut who got expelled from school, liked fighting, and dated 28 year old guys. Man, some guys have all the luck. So, as usual, everyone is telling their sides of various stories while the crowd 'ooo's and ahhh's' every few minutes to show signs of life. Snap to a few quick-cuts to crowd members shaking their heads or laughing at a lame Dr. Phil dad-pun. It was everything I remembered from watching Dr. Phil with my gram 7 years ago. Basically, the mom cheated on the Dad, who she said abused her. The daughter told a bunch of likely exaggerated stories about trying to kill herself 40 times, her father abusing her, doing meth at age 11, etc. She actually managed to take a story about attacking her Dad with scissors and make herself the victim. I could tell she had a Tumblr blog. Little hoe But I'm watching this all go down, and Dr. Phil is being such a blowhard. The Dad was like "I never touched anyo-" and Phil interrupts with "That's a lie!" Cue crowd applause. At one point he told the crowd that a mother is a young girl's most important role model, then very awkwardly stared at the mother until the crowd felt uncomfortable enough to laugh 10 seconds later. The entire segment was so ridiculous. But mainly I couldn't help but feel a level of rage towards Dr. Phil that I don't usually feel towards people. I had to get up and go smoke a cigarette at one point to contemplate my existence in a world where he routinely packs his studio with his minion-retard-fans who actually think this guy knows what he is talking about. The segment ended as they were handing me a bill for their services. She got put in some stupid group home which was "specifically designed to handle these type of situations." Whatever. I hate seeing his face. I hate his voice. Why are my jimmies rustled? Well now I feel obligated to shoehorn some music into this shitty update. I was clicking around trying to find bands that seemed to fit the bill of my music tastes. I found this song: I thought it sounded pretty sick. Checked out a handful of songs by Sense Field and realized they were all fucking ghey. They were all like Dashboard Confessional-ish. Way too soft and sappy for me. So then Rezz was playing Chevelle in Plug and we had talked about Chevelle in Plug a few weeks back. See, I had this room mate. We will call him Doug since that's his name. Doug was the type of guy who couldn't have a good night if he didn't pick up a chick. He had a nice routine of stumbling into our place at 3AM without a random slut, blast Chevelle from the living room speakers and smash beer bottles in our kitchen. Ah, college. Eventually he found a random slut named Pam. She was a very top-heavy Mexican chick who had a bush (lol). Overall pretty cool chick though and her and her friends started coming around a lot. But then she started coming around drunk like every night to **** Doug, who was a lanky, pasty, and had one of those beer bellies that looked like a starving Ethiopian on his wiry frame. So the soundtrack to their fucking became Chevelle blasting through his speakers. Whether through that experience or through other means, I started to really like Chevelle. I never really dug too deep into their catalogue but always liked the songs I've heard. First song I heard by Chevelle because it was in Madden. |

If you want to dig into their albums then listen to "Wonder What's Next" then "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)" the clincher is on that album and then Sci-fi Crimes!! Love Sci-fi crimes.
Apparently they released an album in 2011 but I haven't heard it yet so I can't co-sign for it but definitely check out those three and get back to me with what you think.

Honestly I skipped the music part of your post cause I didn't really care TBH, but I hate Dr. Phil too. Dude's a pimple on the ass of society with the same gimmick as news reporters who do stories on missing white girls: give people a train wreck to watch and make them think they're actually being the opposite of exploitative. The only one I hate worse is Dr. Oz since he's an actual medical doctor who uses his degree to push weight loss tips on the kind of double-digit IQ women who watch soap operas. And yes I watch soap operas but I'm a dude so I'm immune to that stereotype.

And I'm sure the check is nice and hefty, but it baffles me that these families willingly go on these shows. "Hunny, we are having a lot of problems in our marriage and with our children. We are on a crash course for rock bottom, what do you think we should do?" "Sweetheart, I think we should go on national television and expose all of our embarrassing and humiliating secrets of our life and have some psuedo-intellectual tell us in front of millions of people how terrible we are as people." "Good idea, babe. What's Dr. Phil's number?" I think I actually have more respect for the goons who would go on Springer because they took it less seriously. They knew they were white-trash or ghetto fuck-ups and they were too far down the rabbit hole to ever crawl out. Speaking of Springer, anyone ever catch the Wilkos show? The one with Springer's old security guy, Steve. Man, what a shitty show that is. He somehow managed to take 80% of Dr. Phil's holier-than-thou aura and mix it with 5% of Springer's charisma, wittiness, and hilariousness to form a steamy turd of a show. The other 15% is intimidating scrawny caterpillar-moustached 35 year olds into almost pissing themselves on stage until the crowd is cued to chant "Steve! Steve! Steve!" Unrelated to crap talk shows, what's the best downloading service now? I have just been using Pandora for music needs for a long time, but there's a few albums I want to download including the Chevelle ones Rezz posted about. Are torrents still a thing? I don't know what people are using for downloading but streaming is all the right nowadays. Spotify and there are a few others out that you can do that with iTunes player if you have an idevice.
