Let’s Do The Time Warp Again!
Spoiler for Dooo the time warp agaaaaaain:

Today we are going to head back to the year 1999.
I was a sophomore in high school and rushing home every afternoon to catch up on the latest episode of Dragonball Z and Toonami. After the time warp dance has been completed. It rips a tear in the fabric of time and I get whisked away to a different time period. After all the smoke has cleared, I look around at my surroundings to see that something has gone awry. Well it looks like there is a bloody kink in how this time traveling stuff works and and I seem to have ended up in a time period that I'm not sure about. Pulling out a hexagon-like device from my pocket it clearly shows the date being July 25th, 1969. I have no recollection of this period in time so it's time for me to pick up a newspaper and see what events are happening. I scan the newspaper with my device and it spits out information about certain events that have happened during this year.

The events are as follows:
Richard M. Nixon is inaugurated 37th President of the US (Jan. 20).

Stonewall riot in New York City marks beginning of gay rights movement (June 28).

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy pleads guilty to leaving scene of fatal accident at Chappaquiddick, Mass. (July 18) in which Mary Jo Kopechne was drowned—gets two-month suspended sentence (July 25). Background: Timeline of Kennedy tragedies

Apollo 11 astronauts—Neil A. Armstrong and Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr., —take first walk on the Moon (July 20).

It also appears to be the year that Woodstock is happening in August. I will mosey on over to take in that experience
in person. Here we go, four days of rain, sex, drugs and rock and roll. How did I jump from July 25th to Woodstock in
August? Don't question it, it is fucking time travel.

Spoiler for Janis Joplin:

"Music is for grooving, music is not for putting yourself through bad changes and you don't have to take anyone's shit to like music so if you are getting more shit that you deserve you know what to do about it. It's just music. Music is supposed to be different than that."

What a great way to start up a performance.

Spoiler for Jimi Hendrix:

Spoiler for The Who:

Spoiler for Joan Baez:

Spoiler for Crosby Stills Nash and Young:

Spoiler for Jefferson Airplane:

Spoiler for Sly and the Family Stone:

What a wild fucking experience that was. I must be going before I can't return back to the present. Before I take
off I do have to mention that during this period of time as you all know the Vietnam war was going on.
My heart goes out to all of the troops that were drafted and sent off to that horrible war and then came
home to be hated by the general public with some ending up homeless and missing limbs.

Microsoft has my cloud storage hostage. I needed to change some information and couldn't confirm my account so while I changed the password and stuff they decided to lock my account for a whole month.

IDK it's weird and I have never had to deal with that before. So that's why you haven't seen any new Razor's Edge because they are all locked away behind close doors.

Also, I want to continue from where I left off. I'm a little OCD and don't want to just add current ones. I will be started off from like mid Oct. I think it is from last year and working my way up to February.

I feel for you and hope you get it sorted, but I am reminded of a comment you made as to why anyone would prefer physical copies of their material, on their computer, as opposed to cloud storage. I think this may be the answer.

That's the trouble with passwords, and that's why I make sure to have backups of everything I write on my PC's hard drive. Although the drives can of course crash it just feels safer, and natch I can make copies onto flash drives, CDs, DVDs or store them on my own website, just to be sure nothing goes missing and can never be retrieved.

Surely Microscum will allow you to retrieve your password once you send them some basic info like your social security number, paycheque and the global rights to your firstborn child?

I still prefer digital over physical. It feels so dated. This was just some odd thing that happened when I got my new laptop and windows 8 wanted me to register my Microsoft account. I had some old information on it like an old number that they couldn't send me a text to so I could verify that the account was mines. So they decided to lock it for a month through changing my password or some such non sense but on February 7th I'll have my account back and all my information will be just perfectly fine. It doesn't just disappear into the nethers because it is digital.

We interrupt your regularly schedule program to discuss Justin Bieber's Believe.
A challenge was thrown down and I had to accept. Although I do already tend to listen to pop music as it is. This wasn't an extremely hard challenge to dominate.

The experience started off great actually and as the album went on I had come to realize that I have heard a large majority of this album without ever sitting down to listen to it all together. I loved the catchy start with All Around The World. He needs to do more of this and utilize more electronica in his music. This track seemed like something that David Guetta would make.

I can't listen to Boyfriend without thinking about Overly Attached Girlfriend. She completely shined the light on the fact that this song is really creepy as feck but I have her dead pan eyes burned into my head any time this song comes on and I just busted out laughing. It makes you dissect the lyrics and see how creepy it sounds when he is trying to be romantic.

I like the general idea of As long as you love me but the cynical side of me pops up and a large majority of women will not stick around if you have no money or end up losing your posh job and have no security. Love doesn't pay the bills so being homeless and starving is not fucking attractive in the real world. Most women will leave your ass in a heartbeat.

After this track it starts to go downhill. I like catchy Justin Bieber and not so much his slower ballads which starts with the fourth track. Catching Feelings made me want to skip the track but then the fifth track starts back up with the catchy vibe. I really need to look at the producers for this album because they did a really great job with his beats.

I don't feel like really breaking down all of the tracks but as the album goes on. I have come to the realization that it isn't as bad as people make it out to be. They just end up following the mob mentality that it is cool to hate Justin Bieber but he has an excellent team behind him(producers, songwriters and Usher). He just needs some PR work to clean up his current image. I don't even hate on JB for the trouble he has been getting into lately. He is doing the typical shit that a teenager does. The only difference is that he has more money at his disposal and he is in the public spotlight. There are teens doing the same thing that he does just not on the same scale because they can't afford to. In short, all teenagers are dickheads.

For the past two weeks or so if you have been in plug with me or even glanced over the shoutbox. You'd see me bitching about this cough I have lingering from a recent cold. All of the other cold symptoms are gone but this stupid cough doesn't want to go anywhere! It's annoying me and making me super grumpy. My writing projects all across the board have taken a huge hit.

On St. Paddys day in between taking Ibuprofen, Nyquil and a few shots of Bourbon I decided to throw on Sixx AM. The only tradition that I have for this day is that I like to make corned beef and cabbage which I made a bit too much and ended up having for lunch, dinner and breakfast the next day. I was thinking about getting a Guinness for the 9am drinking but I'm not that much of a beer fan plus I'd have to venture outdoors to get it and my cough acts up even more when I'm outside walking around. Back to Sixx:AM, I believe I only listened to their second album(This Is Gonna Hurt) maybe once to say I've heard it so I decided to really listen to it and pay more attention. I really don't know if I had any expecatations of this album going into it but I just decided to listen to it. I didn't try to compare it with their debut album like so many other people do. It is really great to go into an album with a blank slate. Now with all of that being said, boy was it generic and sounded extremely forced. The lyrics didn't come across as genuine as their debut album. The main reason I'm going to head down this route and compare the two is because just like the first album this second album was also paired with a book. I haven't read either of the books yet but I will one day. If the book has the same stories and same air of false sympathy to it, I will definitely have to avoid the second book all together. Usually, lyrics aren't a big deal to me and I just focus on the instrumentation being played but with Sixx:AM, I like to pay attention to the stories being told. Here is a sample of their excellent output in the lyrics department.

The traffic's backed up on the 405,
And the smog's so thick you can cut it with a knife,
But it gives me time,
To think about my life,
I take the 10 to the 5 to the 101,
I got a song sitting here on the tip of my tongue,
And the more I drive,
The more I feel alive.

So cringeworthy. There are about three tracks that I wouldn't mind hearing again but I think I will be happy avoiding this album again til a few years past and then I go through the same process of trying to remember why I haven't listened to this album much.

Lies of the Beautiful People
Spoiler for Sixx:A.M. Lies of the Beautiful People:

This song reminds me of a poem that I wrote one time with a similar theme. I believe that's why I gravitated towards it so much.

In the next day or two I may do a little recap of some SXSW bands that I'm really hyped about. If you have been in plug with me recently, you have most likely heard a few of the bands that I will cover.

I just discovered this journal today, so I hope you don't mind me commenting on your previous post. I agree that people hate on JB just because it's "cool" to do so. It wears thin really fast. I personally don't like his music, partially because he is the first name a lot of people think of in the Canadian music industry. There's a lot of good stuff here if you care to dig.

Well before him people would use Nickelback and Celiene Dion to slag off Canada. So Canada doesn't have a really good rep in people's mind when it comes to big artists from that country.

Also, I don't mind you commenting on earlier posts.

SXSW

For those of you that don't know. Every year there is a music festival that happens in Austin, Texas where people keep their eyes out for the next big thing and breakout bands that are on the rise.

Here is a little history behind it from their website:

Quote:
The first South by Southwest Music Conference and Festival (SXSW) was held in 1987 in Austin, Texas. Despite the fact that Austin was not a Top 20 major market at the time, the background and character of the city made it a perfect location for the conference. Austin was considered a fairly cosmopolitan town for its size because of the University of Texas, which draws people from all over the world. As home to the Texas Legislature and state government, it has also always been a popular party town, with a reputation that goes back to the 19th century when numerous nightspots and bars were populated by General Custer's troops after the Civil War. These nightspots were located in the same areas where the 6th Street and 4th Street club and bar scenes now exist.

Austin's eclectic music scene goes back to the city's early history (from Mexican, German and colonial origins) and encompasses a wide variety of music including country, folk, jazz, blues and rock. Central Austin boasts more original music nightclubs in a concentrated area than any other city in the world.
After all of these years of me following SXSW, I didn't even realize they had a film portion of the festival. According to the history the film portion was added in '94.

I'm only going to touch on the Music side of things because I never pay much attention to what's going on the Film and Interactive side of things.

If you have plugged with me anytime last week. You will most likely have heard some of these artists. As I looked up more infomation on these bands I reliazed that they all have the electro pop vibe in common. I guess why I gravitate towards them.

Holychild
Holychild's debut EP is called Mind Speak. They ended up signing with indie label Glassnote. The same label that Phoenix, Mumford & Sons and CHVRCHES are actually on. Liz Nistico and Louie Diller met up in 2011 when Louie was a guest musician in Liz's dance class at George Washington University and that's where the magic happened. They came together to play music that they felt was a bit weird so they wanted to keep a very high production value to their output.
Spoiler for Sample:

MØ is a Danish singer/songwriter that follows in the electro pop footsteps of Twin Shadow, Grimes and Purity Ring. The meaning behind her name is "virgin" or "maiden" in Danish.
This is her latest single which I'm not too thrilled about but I love Dark Night and XXX88
Spoiler for Sample:

I downloaded her LP a few weeks ago but I haven't listened to it entirely to see if it lives up to the great EP of hers Bikini Daze.

ASTR

They won me over with their song Operate and their cover of Drake's Hold on We're Going Home. So far they have only released a six song EP entitled Varisty but if they constantly put out songs this solid then I can't wait until they finally release their album. A little back story to this group. Guy meets girl at a yoga class. They become friends, then form a band. Band makes it big after hitting up Brooklyn hipster scene.
Spoiler for Sample:

Panama Wedding

Another NY band that got buzz through all the internet music bloggers and the indie scene during the summer last year is Panama Wedding. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any other material from them besides this track. It feels like such a cocktease with their synth goodness and upbeat simplicity. I want more from them. Hopefully they are working on putting out an EP soon at least.
Spoiler for Sample:

Panama

Panama is an electronic band from Sydney, Australia. The band consists of Jarrah McCleary (lead vocals, keys, guitar), Tom Marland (keys, guitar), and Tim Commandeur (drums). The band has released two extended play albums. I don't know too much about this aussie band but I got this info from off of wikipedia and appearently they have only released two EPs so far but I will definitely be keeping an eye on them. I also mixed them up with Panama Wedding and thought they were both the same band but they aren't. Just similar names.
Spoiler for Sample:
