Hey all. Im pretty bored so Im gonna write another review. Here it is.
Songs: 1. Coma 2. Infectious 3. Blood Money 4. Thanx For Nothin 5. Bare Bones 6. Horrorscope 7. New Machine 8. Frankenstein 9. Live Young, Die Free 10. Nice Day...For a Funeral 11. Soulitude Album:Horrorscope Artist:Overkill Year of Release:1991 Genre:Thrash Metal, Speed Metal, Sludge Metal, Groove Metal My Rating:4 out of 5 Stars Best Song:Thanx for Nothin Review: So this is the fifth album by Overkill, a relatively known but influential thrash metal band. For all intents and purposes, this is a thrash metal album, with touches of Sludge and Groove Metal here and there throughout the songs. Vocalist Bobby Ellsworth delivers powerful and intense vocals, completely fitting into most of the songs. Songs like Horrorscope and Nice Day for a Funeral are slower, more epic and shows the band's dark side. Others, such as Thanx for Nothin and Coma are straightforward fast and heavy. The discography of the band is one of the largest among the thrash metal bands out there: 16 full length albums, and the band is still active as of today. This album in particular has a darker feeling compared to the other albums by the band. This gives the album a unique sound and originality, and a whole different listening experience compared to the other albums, which sound much more straightforward and heavy. If you've never heard of this band before, you should definitely give them a listen. Compared to the more popular thrash metal bands like Metallica and Megadeth, they have a much larger discography and consistency. But Horrorscope in particular is an excellent album and one of their best out of their large discography in my opinion. Theres no doubt that Overkill has achieved much much more than bands like Metallica and Megadeth in terms of originality and consistency. However, Overkill has never got the exposure they deserved, what a pity - as they are an excellent band with lots of albums released over the years. |
