Journal
Hello Journal,
It's very nice to finally get something fun to do with my hobby and try a new online thing to keep me tied to my own interests. For the sake of avoiding a normal dear journal, I'm going to give you a name so... I shall call you Akoni, my name in Hawaiian translation. So Akoni, here it goes... I had my first singing lesson on April 26th (Last Tuesday) with a lady I found who teaches in Hawaii. Was a fairly quick Google search that made me jump on that band wagon and go for it. Boy was I glad... her studio was awesome and had a great view of the downtown city, studio looked very personal / professional to how she liked to teach and I could feel like I was comfortable around her. How? Well.. I can barely sing by myself because I feel self-conscious about hearing my own voice. But with her I took a leap of faith and started singing scales and some songs in a microphone. That's a pretty big jump from the quiet, shy, withdrawn individual who would rather dive into his cell phone then have direct eye contact with someone who is either checking them out or just glancing at them as they pass someone in the mall. Also all of the lessons are recorded and put onto a CD so you can listen to your entire session, remember your faults in that lesson, and go over the exercises / techniques you both found you needed to work on to improve. Since Apple has invaded my brain and had my invest in an iPod, iPad, and iPhone.. I will be uploading my sessions to a folder on my computer and make it's own playlist on Itunes so I can listen to it on the go and practice, follow along with myself and also play my keyboard from time to time and try my voice on songs I enjoy singing. (Bruno Mars, Female part of "Get It Right" from Glee, Also most of "Blaine's" songs from Glee because I like his singing range and enjoy hitting those pitches, as well as belting out parts for emphases.) Sadly after that lesson, my next session isn't not the upcoming, but following Friday. I have some time to practice and make some progression. I'd like to show up on that Friday and his the scales at least twice as good as I did last time and also be able to belt out a pitch / word in a song to make her eyes widen and push me further to my potential. I can't wait...AHHHH Would love to play my piano and sing than go out to a bar and buy drinks because I feel like I "have" to, to blend with the roomates / friends and fit the bar mold. and to end the entry, that is all for Journal entry 1... Tonykun out -- :-) |
