Heh heh! Misplaced childhood: excellent! Script is still my favourite though, followed by Brave. Love the cover of that Moonlight Sailor album: what's it like?

M. WARD ^So far, those two albums are all I have listened to from this guy, and I can see in the near future that the rest of his discography will get a good listen. Really really diggin this guy, he's like a mixture of Nick Drake and Conor Oberst in some ways. Coincidentally, it was recommended to me through last.fm because I listen to Nick Drake quite regularly. He's (according to Wiki) an underground singer and songwriter from Portland, Oregon, so very close to where I live, which is a plus on a personal note. I love acoustic artists overall, so it's always exciting to find a new artist that I like and will continue to like as time goes on. |

Hey Ki! Great to see you writing again.
Interesting artiste: why is only his first initial used I wonder? Odd, but maybe that's the attraction, initially? Never heard of anyone who did that before... I'll listen when I get a spare moment.

^Well, M.Ward is his stage name, his full name is Matthew Stephen Ward. I'd also like to add that when I pointed out that he sounded like he had a bit of Conor Oberst influence, that was before I figured out that he actually was involved with Monsters of Folk, whom Conor Oberst was a part of as well.

M. WARD II ^Another fantastic album from a new artist that i'm really really beginning to love. It was much more mellow, and his voice sort of reminds me of Bob Dylan throughout, but it's not in a bad way. The lyrics are brilliant, and the feel of the music is very soothing and easy listening from first to last track. Probably my favorite of all the albums i've listened to so far, though i've got a couple more to listen to, which'll be included in "M. Ward III" Something interesting to note, the track Psalm reminded me of Slap by Yes, and playing them back to back, they sound very very similar: The similar part starts at 1:45 for Psalm, I don't know, maybe it's just me. |

This is the first time I've had a proper look through your journal and I really like its 'chilled out' feel.
I find it interesting how homesick that you're feeling, you're only a couple of states away and it's not like you've moved to another country and culture. What sort of stuff do you really miss about home?

Thanks for checking out my journal though, I try to update it as frequently as possible, but I just forget. |
