I credit the Black Eyed Peas for getting me into electronica in the first place so it's not a bad thing that they are putting out music like this that will get more people interested enough in it to dig deeper and find out better music related to the genre and all the sub genres.

Pop in general I think has been on the comeback whether you call it synth pop, new wave or something else. The 90s wasn't the greatest pop decade but towards the end of the 2000s things have been improving. But many people still look at 'pop' very narrowly as being just major label chart music, but I really don't think it is just that.

So how do we feel about the likes of say snoop dogg? He makes basically dance music yet it's still refered to as rap or whatever because hes the singer. WTF. How in earth can he get away with that? Most rap artists songs (pop culture speaking) are basically dance now. Good for them taking music at a new angle. But don't ****ing call it rap when it isnt.

Well see that's where technicalities come into play. The song would still be considered Hip Hop because he's doing rapping in it but the thing about Hip Hop is that it can include all kinds of genre blends.

Some people may even call it Hip Pop which is the same thing that they call The Black Eyed Peas.

To me, I don't care though it's all Hip Hop to me.

rapping + beats = Hip Hop.

oh noes there are rappers in my dance music, it's hip hop now.

oh noes rappers up in my country music, hip hop now.

there doesn't even need to be someone rapping for it to be considered hip hop

oh noes some artist is using jazz samples and not even rapping and want to claim it's hip hop.

that's how it works.

Hip Hop is a pretty loose term that isn't pigeon holded to one specific sound.

The genre itself is always evolving and it produces sounds that are different than the typical sound that it started out as.
