Loved this. Such a great song and you captured it beautifully. I also liked the way y'all looked at each other at the very end...not that that has anything to do with your vocal abilities.

The Mazzy Star cover really suits your voice. I thought it was rather stunning actually. And the other video you posted, I assume thats footage you shot yourself? The music acts as a very fitting backdrop to the video. The footage is beautiful, as is the music.
Very impressed. |

Yes, it's footage I shot in New Zealand last Winter. I recorded the random snippet of music and didn't know what to do with it so I just decided to set it too that random footage. Thanks so much for your kind words Will hopefully get to post more music up on the Interwebz if my schedule allows! |

I love all facets of music, but one area that I do really enjoy is...
Video Game Music When I was growing up, video game music was only limited to simple, often repetitive melodies by early sound synthesizer technology. Today, video game music has expanded to include the same breadth and complexity associated with television and movie soundtracks. I'm going share with you some of my favourites. I don't know how I will be able to possibly choose, and I will likely have several posts to include everything, but I will give it a start here! The Elder Scrolls Putting aside the fact that the Elder Scrolls games are awesome, I simply adore the beautiful soundtracks. I've been playing a lot of Skyrim recently, so I'll focus on the more recent soundtracks, even though they incorporate melodies and themes from the past games as well. Spoiler for Skyrim/Elder Scrolls Music:
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Spoiler for Assassin's Creed Music:
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Spoiler for Wind Waker Music:
Mass Effect 3 Spoiler for Mass Effect Music:
Halo Spoiler for Halo Music:
There are many, many more but I have to stop somewhere! I don't know why I love these video game soundtracks so much, the music is beautiful but maybe it is also because I associate it with some sort of emotional or sentimental connection with the game - I don't know. Anyway, now that I've posted a heap, what are your favourites? Last edited by Astronomer; 07-03-2013 at 01:54 AM. |

I really don't like Halo as a game but I love the soundtrack for Halo 4.

Just something random I was thinking about today when posting a collaboration I did in my songwriting thread - I wonder to what affect digital technologies are having on musicians in terms of the way they work together and collaborate?
I used to play in a band, we would meet up once a week for "band practice" in which we all packed up and carted our instruments to each other's houses and spent a day rehearsing, creating, making music together. When one of my band members moved interstate that was that, we kinda just stopped as physical boundaries meant we were no longer able to continue our practice together. However, recently, I was chatting with this said interstate friend on Skype, when we both randomly got out our guitars and starting playing together. Now, this is not a new thing, loads of musicians collaborate and make music online, but it was at that moment that it really just occurred to me how easy it was. It was then that I started a Soundcloud and YouTube account and began to share things online. I actually met a musician on Soundcloud and we started to collaborate, mash our stuff together and create some music together. This was the result: 'Atlas' by Kate (Follow the link to listen!) It was really fun to be able to work with someone else in creating a piece of music together, without having the boundaries of physical space, and without having to pack up and load all of my instruments into my car and travel to meet someone. However, having said that, the song we created is incredibly rough, unpolished and random. I'm not sure where we'll go from here or if it will be too difficult to create anything any more polished given the fact that we live on the opposite sides of the world and often don't communicate in real time. So it makes me think that maybe there are still limitations as to what you can do online... who knows. I guess this is a journey that has only just begun and I will wait to see what happens! |
