Have to recommend this lovely lady, Oh Loud. Suggested to be a cross between Bjork and Florence and the Machine here is her songs so far:
I think she has a very beautiful voice, reminds me of a Kiwi artist called Gin Wigmore who I've mentioned in here before. Her album is going to be released in 2011.

I'm glad you like it!
Now back to the dub scene that I love. A newish group from New Zealand called Six 60. Absolutely fantastic music, similar to Shapeshifter crossed with Nesian Mystik. If you like dub music with laid back instrumentals, soothing vocals, you'll like these guys, my best friend is obsessed with them:

I've recently come across this French singer/songwriter/actor. He is currently doing solo work but was part of another group. I have been listening to his album Un Disque pour Elle. There is only 5 tracks but so far I've really enjoyed every song. My favourite is 'The Wall'. It's the kind of song you would listen to while sitting on a bus, looking out the window with all the people walking by, keeping to themselves as if you are not really existing with them.
I would consider his music to be very acoustic driven with an often gentle feel. Some of the songs are darker than others and have an emotional vocation associated.

Tell you what, I'm loving the sound of that Six60 group there. Maybe it's the lack of sleep talking, but they sound to me like that vampire band in From Dusk 'til Dawn, only if they'd somehow got to King Tubby and had him produce the recordings 'til the end of time...
...erm, yeah, anyway, good journal and all. Looking forward to more of it |

Oh sweet! I'm so glad you like them! It's nice to see people taking away some recommendations from my journal, even if it's only one. I'm such a promoter for Kiwi roots/drum and bass music. It's because it's original, fresh and on the other side of the world so it's got a unique feel to it.
I feel a lot of UK drum and bass sounds a lot different.
