Classic Movie Wars!
Simple enough. You can vote for a movie because you like it, or because it's seen as such a classic, both, or neither. Details of all battle results will be held here, along with the current battle in progress. Any movie ahead by three or more votes will be declared the winner, unless voting is slow in which case I make make a determination. That movie will then be matched up with another, until it is defeated or retired. Any movie that defeats three others will win Warrior status, and move into the second round, any movie defeating five others will gain Legend status and automatically make it into the third and final round.

BATTLE I
Citizen Kane v The Godfather |
Citizen Kane is the greatest film ever made- PERIOD!
|
It's ****ing boring and the only people who disagree are basic bitch film nerds who are regurgitating the opinions of others.
|
I'd have to say I agree. I mean, I recognise its contribution to cinema history and all the tricks pioneered in it, but yeah, after watching it for the first time I was sort of "huh?" The only really good thing about it was the song which I realised the Simpsons had copied from it, which was cool.
|
Both are top-tier classics but I've watched The Godfather several times since the 70's and I could watch it yet again and still enjoy it.
I watched Citizen Kane once and enjoyed it but it did seem overrated to me and I doubt I'll ever bother to watch it again. |
Citizen Kane is fine. I agree that it's overrated.
The Godfather is great! Easy win. |
I'm going with Godfather.
I'd like to nominate Eraserhead for one of these bouts if that's allowed. |
Might not make sense to anyone else, but I'd pitch Eraserhead against Forbidden Zone perhaps. Both surrealistic, otherworldly indie films in black & white. Both great!
