I spend 4-6 hours a day on average listening to podcasts. They're where I get most of my news and entertainment - true crime pods are a huge guilty pleasure but I also listen to a fair amount of science, psychology, history, and talk shows. Over the past several days I've been listening to The Dropout- a docuseries about the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes/Theranos. Similar vibe to Dr. Death, but with a smaller body count. Anyone up to speed with the Sword and Scale vs. Wondry drama? Do you SSDGM? Do you only listen to the NPR shows? Discuss. |
people say the joe budden podcast is good and i get ads for it on instagram but dk.. im just not a podcast person.. thats giving a whole hour to something. gotta be worth it.
the joe rogan podcast on youtube has nice guests and interesting view points, even though he flirts with being racist :pimp: |

That was definitely racist af
“I went into planet of the apes” and also so everybody was black there? whoopdee s hit. I’ve heard other white people say that. Like being the only white person is some kind of big experience. Favorite podcast by far: Philosophize This |
I've never like Joe Rogan. The most masturbatory of all hosts. Philosophize This seems right up my alley, I'll check it out.
|
All he did was say how great an experience he had with black people. How cool it was to have his picture taken by someone who recognize him. IDK what is racist by that. But the part were he was making fun of Laemmle and white people and their taste in movies. Yeah, that is borderline racist. Paint the white man as having an uncontrollable penchant for terrible movies like some addict jonsing for his next fix, why don't you Joe Rogen.

I listen to podcasts more than I listen to music, honestly. I love My Brother My Brother and Me, and basically every other podcast that the boys from MBMBAM do... they're ****ing hilarious, and generally good people who care about others, which is nice. They have a DnD podcast they do with their dad, and all three have podcast they do with their wives on various topics (the history of medical practices, the history of manners, and one that's literally just about the things and ideas that the hosts are enjoying most recently).
My weirdest favorite podcast is The Empty Bowl. It's a "meditation podcast about cereal" that mixes slow, calm conversations about the cereal industry with long pauses of silence and ocean sounds. It's bizarre, but lovely, and something I often return to when the anxiety is most rough, or when I'm trying to sleep. There's also The Weeds and Fivethirtyeight, which are both recent events/politics podcasts that my wife turned me onto. Though I don't often agree with the perspectives, I find that they do a good job presenting current issues clearly. |

My favourite podcast is probably “Your Welcome” by Michael Malice. He’s an anarchist of the “right wing” persuasion, but he’s far more sympathetic to - let’s say - left liberals than he is to traditional conservatives. He’s actually called conservatives “liberals without balls”. The podcast itself doesn’t focus solely on anarchism, it depends on the guest. He’s just an interesting person to me and doesn’t mind asking a few awkward questions.
The guest on this also has his own podcast that I enjoy called “Part of the Problem”. He’s also an anarchist of a similar wing and a comedian. He does tend to be more focussed on current issues as opposed to having guests. |
Does he pretend he intentionally misspelled you’re welcome?

Joe Rogan pulls great guests but he sucks ass. Some workmates were going on about him and how he has an interesting perspective. I told them that they should've met me and my stoner friends when we were 14, we would've blown your mind. They were like that's crazy bro.
I like to throw on the H3 podcast when I'm winding down for the night and surfing the web. They're pretty funny. |

I have a number of podcasts that I listen to regularly,
but one that you may like is from someone who's really a good interviewer on a variety of interesting topics - sometimes ones that you never knew you'd be interested in - like the time she spent a whole hour on the history of the banana. Her name is Krys Boyd (she's my neighbor) and has a show called "Think" that broadcasts here from noon to 2. I catch the repeat when I go to bed and usually am wide awake until the show ends. Funny tho, I don't really need to listen to the podcasts except for repeat show listens. Here's the latest one: Why We Think We’re Ready for Natural Disasters And Why We’re Wrong Archives. |

Edit: Podcasts are more of a background thing anyways, something to throw on while you do something else. |

Joe Rogan and Bill Burr are the only ones I seem to listen to. but I will listen to any podcast as long as it has a guest I like
Just came in to leave this because I listened to it last night. He is a fascinating character, Joe really let him speak away on it. Very gripping listening when he's going into his private life.[/QUOTE] Huge Tyson Fury fan. The guy is a character for sure. Glad he made it through those dark times |
Sorry Beefheart just seen your post. Yes, Fury is great. I don't know how anyone can't love him tbh.
And a fantastic athlete also. |
He’s notoriously homophobic and misogynistic.
|
Did you just read his Wikipedia page?
|
No I knew that.
|
I just ask because correct me if I'm wrong but you have no posts on the boxing threads and I can't remember ever discussing any fights with you, so seems odd that you'd be informed about Fury who tbh is not really that well known outside of British boxing circles and certainly wasn't before the Wilder fight.
As for those 'notoriously homophobic and misogynist' claims, if only they were true. He's great and everyone else is just a dosser. |
Gotta hate when the media misrepresents people's stances by using direct quotes and providing a wealth of accurate context.
|
Post them then?
|
You know it's really weird how you're so often somehow connected to bigotry considering how much you insist you're not a bigot.

Ah so he was just kidding when he likened homosexuality to paedophelia and said that people are only okay with it because they were brainwashed by Zionists. What a funny guy!

First sentence, let me know if that assumption is off base and I'll direct you to the quotes in question. |
Why not just post the quotes?
