Being mainly a fan of old school FPS games and 90's/2000's platformers, there's not really a whole lot of cutscenes that I can think of to write home about.
This is the best cutscene of all time though, and I'm sure windsock will agree with me: Some of the cutscenes in the Gex series are on a "so bad it's good" level, where it's just so stupid that you can't help but love it in some sense. Oh, same with Road Rash. Favorite racing game, favorite cheesy cutscenes. Last edited by Unitron; 09-06-2018 at 05:01 PM. Reason: forgot to add something |

Most of my favorites contain spoilers so I’m not sure I wanna post them

Give me games with story, with cutscenes that advance the story, or leave the cutscenes out of it. A lot of cheaper games have "flavor" cutscenes that don't add anything to the story, while some more high-quality games have extended cutscenes that explain huge chunks of story. The former is merely irritating, but during the latter, I'll get up from my computer and go make a sandwich or something.
Keep cutscenes concise, keep the action moving, and include an option to skip the cutscene, for the love of God.

JRPGs are the worst for that. They'll go into a long cut scene, end the cut scene, then you'll walk literally five steps, and then they hit you with another cut scene. Then when you think that cut scene is over it turns out it was only the first chapter of the cut scene.

I mean yeah but if it's a a 6-7/10 game that you're enjoying but not over the moon about those cut scenes can drop it right to a 5 in five minutes. There's simply no gaining back that trust once you realize this is probably going to be par for the course.
