My favorite of the series. Tighter gunplay, more interesting tone and story turns, and a very memorable final battle (the reaper-human-abomination-thing is my spirit animal).

One of the greatest games ever made. I gave the first a 5/5 as well but this one is clearly the masterpiece of the trilogy. I agree with all the praise that others have given in this thread.

The only one I finished was ME3, but ME2 is a lot like that one, so I guess I think both are pretty decent. Not sure I would get back to this series, but I still have the discs for ME2 and 3 somewhere (xbox 360).
My edited character was cool, but long gone by now. Fem Shep of course. |

I still enjoy ME3 and consider it to be a good game, but it’s the worst of the trilogy for a lot of reasons. Like Elph said the story lacked the mystery and intrigue of the previous two. Sure there were some epic setpieces and the Reapers are inherently terrifying so things are intense whenever they’re around, but really the whole plot of the game is pretty straightforward. And the unfortunate issues with the ending are well-documented. It could’ve been the most ambitious story in gaming history but they kind of just took everything you did throughout the trilogy and boiled it down to just one final choice. Very underwhelming though I acknowledge that the variables involved in making a truly unique ending based on all of your decisions throughout the trilogy is basically impossible. Oh well, still a great trilogy overall

The ending to ME3 wasn't very good, but I didn't care much when I got that far either. I had fun enough with most of the game. The one I ddidn't like enough to get much of anywhere was ME1. The combat system was pretty much the main thing that stopped me from wanting to continue past a few hours.

Mass Effect 1 was a positively mesmerizing experience for me when i first played it, but I’m not sure how well it’d hold up today. Been a decade+ or something since I played it
ME2 I’m positive would hold up though
