MB Video Game Classics: Crash Bandicoot [PS1]
With the remaster of Crash Bandicoot existing, I figured it'd be fun to go back in time and somewhat relive the old days when Crash Bandicoot just came out. I'd say I actually enjoy Crash Bandicoot games more than I do Sonic games. Mario on the other hand will always be good. I just think Sony definitely hit it out of the part with this one.

Not sure if this is verified but I believe there was an issue with the coding of the games which made them slightly harder, at least on Xbox. Basically, it seems like what you see on screen and what happens is slightly off. Which I think is true based on playing the game. (e.g. landing on the edge of a platform is very hit and miss)

Crash Bandicoot was Sony's first big hit that wasn't Final Fantasy VII, and it really got the ball rolling on the fun, platforming side of things for the company. The Sonic comparison is apt, too. Hadn't thought about that. It was a pretty good game, just a little overrated IMO if we're to compile a list of greatest of all time.

I never played them as a kid and bought the trilogy remaster when that came out so I’m judging the series with zero nostalgia applied.
Personally I think Crash 1 is solid but far from perfect. Uneven difficulty, clunky physics, repetitive level design, The second game, however, was superb. Third game had a lot of strange gimmick levels but also a lot of brilliant levels. Overall in terms of platformer trilogies definitely give me the DKC trilogy and Spyro trilogy over this, but there’s a lot to love here. Since this poll is only for Crash 1 I’m voting 3/5. Solid game, but not a classic to me. Cortex Strikes Back would get the classic label from me though for sure

Absolute classic. Without a doubt. Played this shit when I was a wee lad with my older brother. Bought it restored and it'll always hold up. Still waiting for that fourth game.

I think this game is responsible for 4 or 5 of my fetishes.
