Default MB Video Game Classics: Super Metroid

I'm taking us back all the way to the SNES games with Super Metroid. A lot of us grew up in what I like to call the best time for gaming. With the SNES and the NES being the big dogs, we had to expect some greatness from these systems. When Super Metroid came out, it definitely changed the playing field for what side scrolling platformers should be.

11/10 game. The progression of your powers makes you feel like a god. Who needs Boba Fett when Samus exists? And the exploration is some of the best ever.

Incredible game that feels full in its extension. Nothing really felt out-of-place or forced. A good mix of weapons and powers and there are plenty of extras to get, which you can do at your leisure as they don't affect the outcome of the game. Good luck if you don't need a guide for 100% completion, though.

And dat intro with the ominous music and a computerized voice (for a SNES game). You knew what you were about to get into.

That part right before Kraid though when you have to figure out where to go with no clues and then after an hour or five of frustration you realize you had to shoot a missile at a wall in an elevator room. That was bull****.

Slap a strong 5/5 on there from me. This game literally created a genre. It holds up to this day and few Metroidvania titles even come close to competing. A remarkable gaming achievements and one of the ~5 best SNES games, and the SNES competes for the greatest console library ever.

This game also gets a 5/5 from me. It'd be impossible for me to rate it less. This game is fantastic for all the right reasons.

Never played any Metroid except one of those first-person GC games. Didn't think that one was any good, but I know it's not even the same developers.

More like non-Nintendo gamer.

I've no doubt played a few hundred essentials that you haven't on other platforms.
Especially old PC games. That's what I grew up on instead of 16 bit consoles.
