There is a video game coming out where players can act out a school shooting. It's called "Active Shooter."

The game is described as a simulation of an active shooter situation, where players can opt to be either the killer or the SWAT team tasked with neutralizing the situation. Screenshots from the game show attacks taking place in both an office and school environment.

The developer, on the game’s Steam page, says “please do not take any of this seriously,” but that’s unlikely to assuage survivors of real world tragedies and victim’s rights groups, especially as the game proudly touts its “variety of real life weapons” and “impressive [artificial intelligence].”

How could someone be so obtuse to think that this would be a good idea?

Oh good I've been fantasizing about this for years.

Maybe it's because I'm a parent or I'm just not "cool" anymore, but this whole idea seems WRONG to me. I get the "active shooter" thrill, but at a school? Have it play out against faceless space robots or something.

I'm glad I'm not alone. Although I would exclusively play as the SWAT team. Fuck school shooters.
