It's still a tie I think whether I find this or Breath of the Wild to be my favorite Zelda game of all time. But I have many great memories exploring the waters in Wind Waker. Solid 4/5 for me but the HD remake gets a 5/5 for the sailing upgrade.

It's still kinda hard to believe the hate this game got when it first came out. One of the worst word-of-mouth reputations ever, usually from people who hadn't even played it, only seen a few pics or some snippets of gameplay footage, and decided that it looked like a "kid's game".

Then I got it anyway, tried it out, and had an absolute blast. Very fun and creative. Lived up to the quality of 3-D Zelda games that Ocarina and Majora had established, while also shaking things up. My only real complaint is that it's kind of short. But I still pop it in every now and then, and it's always a pleasure to come back to. Not to mention that the cell shaded graphics have held up pretty damn well.

Yes, this exactly. I got the remake on the wii u and it was so nice having the item screen/map accessible all the time. So fun and sweet.

Everything about the HD remake made the game better and didn't take anything from what I love about the original.

I played Wind Waker later than other people but it was more just laziness. I remember it getting poor feedback but I'm so glad I played it for myself. It's really a treat. Plus the final fight with Ganon is amazing. Like...hitting an arrow off your shield to hit Ganon was ****ing awesome.

compare this to a Ubisoft open world with 100 times the scale and it's still no contest for me, nothing captures the sense of discovery and adventure as well as Zelda
Hell yeah man. I did 100% on the original. Like...everything 100%. The HD remake I didn't but I gotta play it again because it's been a while since I've played it.
