A solid 8. The world feels too empty once you've finished all the side quests but that first playthrough was magical. If New Vegas didn't exist I'd have to give it another point.

Key 06-14-2018 05:35 PM

I agree mostly though I would still give Fallout 3 a solid 10/10. Definitely one of my favorite games of all time.

The Batlord 06-14-2018 05:42 PM

If you'd asked me when I finished the game it'd probably be a 10 as well.

Key 06-14-2018 05:46 PM

New Vegas is in its own league though. I feel like it definitely is the better game but I just have more personal experiences with 3.

The Batlord 06-14-2018 05:49 PM

I've put so much time in New Vegas that I think I might have completed almost 25% of the quests.

Damn. That's impressive.

The Batlord 06-14-2018 05:52 PM

I have no illusions of being over 10% with Skyrim though. That **** is just wrong.

But so so SO right.

The same as New Vegas, only with no iron sights, less crafting, a non branching story, a vast amount of enemy/NPC spawn points, and unlimited random encounters and thus an endless amount of NPCs to kill or mez and build settlements with. Once you clear out the game map in NV, and exhaust the set amount of special encounters, very little ever respawns, usually only in interior cells, leading to a world that gets hilariously empty before you can even get any real use out of the top tier weapons. Fallout 3 has a more engaging aesthetic, and an actual reason to load up your high level characters, crank up the difficulty to the max, and head back out into the wastes to see how many albino radscorpions and deathclaws you can beat to death before eating it.

Plus, since Fallout 3 has unlimited "good" NPCs, you can actually play as a raider/evil character without having to kill unique NPCs, and/or running out of people to kill.

I'd say both are equals, just with slightly different pros and cons that give each a unique flavor, despite the asset sharing.

I think this is exactly word for word how I feel about the two games. Both great in their own ways.

I do not at all remember enemies not respawning in New Vegas. You just have to wait a few days?

WWWP 06-14-2018 06:29 PM

I voted very very good. The first time i played it i made the mistake of playing through the main storyline too quickly, i was quite let down. Everytime since then though i pretty much ignored the missions and just explored, which is what i'm doing now with NV as i recently started playing it for the first time. It's a fun world, even if the terrain repeats itself endlessly.

Like I said, very few, usually in interior cells. The deathclaws in Quarry Junction don't respawn (I believe there is just one cave where a few deathclaw respawn, and another with yao guai). Neither do the Super Mutants and Nightkin. All Caesar's Legion and NCR soldiers, once killed, do not respawn. Same with Powder Gangers, Kings, FotA, BoS, and every other faction, including the tribals in Honest Hearts. The only human NPCs that respawn are the raiders close to Vegas.

Old World Blues is the worst about respawning. Almost nothing comes back.

I could go on, but the short of it is that only a few critters in a very limited number of set spots actually respawn. In the end, rather than load up your best gear and roam like in Fallout 3, you have to head to specific caves to have any fun in the late game.

Comes with age, but the game is still a **** ton of fun. I finished my first playthrough a while back but I've been itching to play again. Haven't decided still if I wanna replay NV or Fallout 3. May end up being Fallout 3.

Oriphiel 06-14-2018 06:35 PM

Try Fallout 2. It's hard as hell, but pretty fun once you get into the groove.

WWWP 06-14-2018 06:37 PM

I feel like the perks and character dev in 3 are more appealing. I like the reputation system in NV but so far i feel like 3 had better replay-ability.

Edit: @ ori, i ****ing love the first two games. they kick your ass in the best way.

Key 06-14-2018 06:38 PM

Plus, it's Wahington DC in the apocalypse. That's such a great concept.

That too. I also like sniping Tenpenny before ever walking into the building. That's always fun.

It's so much fun. Just gotta manage to get a sniper before going there but if you do, it's so worth it.

The main story is actually a lot better than 3, but it's a Fallout/Elder Scrolls game so you never want to do the main quests until you're a solid 100 hours in at the earliest.

Yac 06-15-2018 01:42 AM

I voted 4/5.
It was a great game, but the main story was a bit too short and too dumb, and the game was a bit too.. barebones. New Vegas added several mechanics, like skill tests in dialogues or weapon modifications that made the game a lot better.
Also I'm rather angry that I can not run my original version because it's using games for windows live, something satan himself shat out one day when hungover (and it doesn't work anymore). It also has, at least the version that was sold in Poland, some ridiculous drm that loved to say "the disc isn't original" and you had to restart your pc, sometimes several times, until it finally worked.

Nah, Moira lives through it. She just turns into a ghoul and hikes over to Underworld.

She's so wholesome.

The Batlord 06-17-2018 10:15 AM

I guess the writer didn't want to throw all that work with her sidequest down the drain. Notice how no other character from Megaton besides the companion was at all of note.

Key 06-17-2018 10:38 AM

I love Moira!

Did you destroy Megaton, lead the ghouls to Tenpenny Tower, but instead of letting them in you kept them outside until you could gun down every resident of the tower one-by-one like a Rwandan death squad?

Stop lying. You're not evil enough. You're the Diet Coke of evil. Just one calorie, not quite evil enough.

WWWP 06-17-2018 11:07 AM

It's more that I don't want to self incriminate.

The Batlord 06-17-2018 11:11 AM

That's not incriminating. It would be incriminating if you'd had sexual intercourse with the slave girl with the Skrillex hair. I totally never did that.

Key 06-17-2018 12:23 PM

Someone help me decide to play through fallout 3 again. I want to. It's been so long.

The Batlord 06-17-2018 12:25 PM

**** that, play New Vegas, you shaved cunt pube.

Key 06-17-2018 12:26 PM

I recently played NV. Got through the main story and killed off all the factions.

The Batlord 06-17-2018 12:29 PM

I've yet to finish the game and I feel no shame in that.
