I don't disagree. I get myself wrapped up in it because I have no self control. I just wanna argue.

What point is there in that? If I realize I look like the idiot, why further that? I openly admit when I **** up because usually I have no interest in the argument at that point. Easier for me.

I realize the irony here.

I'll take that opinion seriously from any of you guys in here only when you actually know what you're talking about. Yet to happen, tbh ;)

Maybe I don't feel very interested in so many of the games talked about around these parts because they just don't go so deep. There's so many more interesting games out there. This feels to me like if a metal thread was all about Metallica, Maiden, Sabbath, etc. The stuff everybody knows. I wanna talk about the obscure games, but only Ori has played any of them.

Eager to hear about your collection of ultra "obscure", "interesting" games that are too deep for us total gaming noobs to have ever heard of

I mean come on lol

For what it's worth I haven't listed even half of what I consider my favorite games for the sole reason that I doubt anyone here has played them, so maybe we're in the same boat but you're also very annoying about it

I'm trying to be annoying about it, so that's good to hear.

Seriously though, there is so many god damn games out there that it's possible for there to be very little cross over even between people who have played a lot of games. That's what's happening for me in here. It's just not the same games we grew up with or gravitated towards, so I rarely agree with anyone about games in here. Except Dynasty Warriors, it seems.

Key 08-21-2018 12:05 PM

I have mentioned many times that I'm open to add games to the list. If you want some on there that you'd like to talk about, I'll add them. I understand that if you think they're to obscure it could be a problem. But still. I'm open for adding whatever.

If no one has played them or has any interest in them, then there won't really be any comments on them anyway. I don't know if there's anything in particular that I actually think many in here are interested in.
I love the King of Fighters games for example, but I don't think anyone else here cares. Fighting games in general don't seem a popular genre among MB'ers.

Arcade shoot 'em ups. Not a single one suggested by other members. It's like my 2nd favorite genre.

I'll throw it in if I think of something that makes sense to add.

Fair enough. But yeah I'm def open for suggestions. We still have a pretty long list so I don't expect this to end anytime soon.

You talk about “deep” games yet only seem to care about the most straightforward genres. Fighting games? Shoot em ups? ****ing Dynasty Warriors, aka “press the attack button: the game”?

Anyway adding up all of your gaming likes, a title I think you might really enjoy is Nier: Automata. On top of having gameplay elements you clearly enjoy (it has both hack & slash elements AND arcade shoot 'em up stuff), it has one of the finest stories I’ve ever experienced in gaming. Give it a look

Frownland 08-21-2018 12:16 PM

Can we add Dora the Explorer?

I'm not necessarily trying to hate on Dynasty Warriors (though overall I'd say I'm certainly not a fan of the series), just that it's kind of silly to name it as one of your favorites if you're trying to paint yourself as some almighty gaming edgelord with taste that exceeds all of ours. The only one in the series I've spent more than a couple hours on is Hyrule Warriors, and that's really only because of the Zelda fanservice. You can play those games and be very effective by only ever pressing two buttons throughout an entire play session lol

I think you're making some assumptions here. I don't say games should be deep or GTFO. Just like with music, I gravitate towards the middle, complexity wise. Sometimes even the lower end.

Even so, I must point out that fighting games aren't exactly simple these days. Even if I personally don't like the most complex ones so much (looking at you BlazBlue - ain't nobody got time to learn all that crap).

Shoot 'em ups are a perfect example of what attracts me about games. The best of them have amazing music, colorful graphics and simple but hard to master gameplay. Some of those games, I can come back to them year after year and still never see everything, so they're still exciting to me (I play them for high scores, without using extra credits. That's why I've never beaten the final stage even in most of my favorites). I can 1 credit run Gunbird :D

I don't consider video games a dick measuring contest, so yeah, Dynasty Warriors is button mashing. And I love that **** when it's at it's best (DW4 and 5. Samurai Warriors 1 and 2).

Aux-In 08-21-2018 12:31 PM

I kind of agree with Kx3i that as long as this is a Classics series, it's more in the camp of being known, iconic or at least respectable in gaming lore. Kind of goes with with the "classic" territory. Otherwise, everything I've ever liked in gaming and music is a gem. Not that I necessarily have a problem with that definition of classic, either, now that I think about it.

MicShazam 08-21-2018 12:35 PM

I don't like the idea of a classic. I'll decide for myself what I should like, thank you.

9.5/10 song

I don't even need to play them with a controller anymore. Just shoot them right into my veins instead.

I made the case in the original classics thread that since it's an MB Classics, it should be based on what the forum feels is truly a classic instead of the ones that are largely agreed upon already. Otherwise you might as well just repost a gaming equivalent of the Rolling Stone top 100 albums list and call it good.

I mean this is pretty much how it's been handled, though of course there's been some overlap between our list and a professional list. **** like Super Metroid and Ocarina of Time are a big deal for a reason

Some of us appeared to have been holding back simply because there's no point having a discussion thread for a title that one or maybe two members have played. I'd nominate the **** out of something like Tales of Symphonia but if more than even just 1 other person here has played it I'd be impressed

100% agreed. It's all marketing.

Not suggesting that the thread's not being run as such btw, just wanted to throw that idea out there.

That's basically what it's turning into anyway.

Sorry for being so annoying, Kiii and Yorke, but it's the truth.

How so? Because people here like Mario and Zelda? lol wtf

There are plenty of games that we've listed/discussed that would never sniff a top 100 on a big gaming news site like IGN

I don't remember all the games that's been up so far, but I don't remember any surprising picks.

Yes, I understand that. That's where the argument for obscure just to be obscure makes no sense here.
