I love the King of Fighters games for example, but I don't think anyone else here cares. Fighting games in general don't seem a popular genre among MB'ers.

Arcade shoot 'em ups. Not a single one suggested by other members. It's like my 2nd favorite genre.

I'll throw it in if I think of something that makes sense to add.
Fair enough. But yeah I'm def open for suggestions. We still have a pretty long list so I don't expect this to end anytime soon.

You talk about “deep” games yet only seem to care about the most straightforward genres. Fighting games? Shoot em ups? ****ing Dynasty Warriors, aka “press the attack button: the game”?

Anyway adding up all of your gaming likes, a title I think you might really enjoy is Nier: Automata. On top of having gameplay elements you clearly enjoy (it has both hack & slash elements AND arcade shoot 'em up stuff), it has one of the finest stories I’ve ever experienced in gaming. Give it a look

I'm not necessarily trying to hate on Dynasty Warriors (though overall I'd say I'm certainly not a fan of the series), just that it's kind of silly to name it as one of your favorites if you're trying to paint yourself as some almighty gaming edgelord with taste that exceeds all of ours. The only one in the series I've spent more than a couple hours on is Hyrule Warriors, and that's really only because of the Zelda fanservice. You can play those games and be very effective by only ever pressing two buttons throughout an entire play session lol

I think you're making some assumptions here. I don't say games should be deep or GTFO. Just like with music, I gravitate towards the middle, complexity wise. Sometimes even the lower end.

Even so, I must point out that fighting games aren't exactly simple these days. Even if I personally don't like the most complex ones so much (looking at you BlazBlue - ain't nobody got time to learn all that crap).

Shoot 'em ups are a perfect example of what attracts me about games. The best of them have amazing music, colorful graphics and simple but hard to master gameplay. Some of those games, I can come back to them year after year and still never see everything, so they're still exciting to me (I play them for high scores, without using extra credits. That's why I've never beaten the final stage even in most of my favorites). I can 1 credit run Gunbird

I don't consider video games a dick measuring contest, so yeah, Dynasty Warriors is button mashing. And I love that **** when it's at it's best (DW4 and 5. Samurai Warriors 1 and 2).

I kind of agree with Kx3i that as long as this is a Classics series, it's more in the camp of being known, iconic or at least respectable in gaming lore. Kind of goes with with the "classic" territory. Otherwise, everything I've ever liked in gaming and music is a gem. Not that I necessarily have a problem with that definition of classic, either, now that I think about it.

I don't like the idea of a classic. I'll decide for myself what I should like, thank you.
