I see where you're coming from. I was a teen when the Toby Maguire films came out. I think that 'The Amazing Spider-Man' films best portrayed the back-story of how Peter Parker became Spider-Man. Garfield seems more legit, emotionally, as far as the actor being connected to the character. Holland is great, nothing against him. He is the youngest LOOKING, so he will probably be the choice for most kids from here on out.

Andrew was easily the best Spider-Man even if the way Peter was written was lame. The man can quip. I'd be interested to see what would have happened if the first three movies hadn't existed and they'd written Peter more traditionally rather than making him all delinquent to change things up. I imagine Garfield would have been better able to cover the full spectrum of Parker's character, such as his angry moodiness that at least bordered on autism from the early days of the comic.

True story:
When my kid was living up in Hollywood, and working in the salon basement of this place, right across the street from the famous "Riot House". Met her for lunch one day and Toby and Tom Selleck were having lunch at the next table.
