Spider-Man: Who Played Him Best?

Who is your favorite Spider-Man?

[MERIT] 12-21-2017 10:16 PM

I see where you're coming from. I was a teen when the Toby Maguire films came out. I think that 'The Amazing Spider-Man' films best portrayed the back-story of how Peter Parker became Spider-Man. Garfield seems more legit, emotionally, as far as the actor being connected to the character. Holland is great, nothing against him. He is the youngest LOOKING, so he will probably be the choice for most kids from here on out.

Chula Vista 12-21-2017 11:34 PM

Andrew.

Toby is a bitch.

Andrew was easily the best Spider-Man even if the way Peter was written was lame. The man can quip. I'd be interested to see what would have happened if the first three movies hadn't existed and they'd written Peter more traditionally rather than making him all delinquent to change things up. I imagine Garfield would have been better able to cover the full spectrum of Parker's character, such as his angry moodiness that at least bordered on autism from the early days of the comic.

True story:

When my kid was living up in Hollywood, and working in the salon basement of this place, right across the street from the famous "Riot House".

Met her for lunch one day and Toby and Tom Selleck were having lunch at the next table.

the way Peter is portrayed as the everyman dweeby (but super smart) teenager your young comic book enthusiast saw himself as is the allure

the movies are super camp in retrospect but the Marvel Universe is camp

ye

i dont really care about andrew garfield's performance cuz those movies sucked wang

rubber soul 12-22-2017 05:34 AM

You forgot this one

No contest.

Emo Toby wins every time.

Seriously though, both Andrew and Tom were good, but if I'd have to choose one, I'd go with Tom.
Mostly because he had a hot aunt may :P

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 12-22-2017 07:49 AM

that even felt weird in the comic book honestly, iron man just kinda showed up at spidey’s

left me thinking wait what

i still dont think theyve really done spiderman enough justice in a film yet though, toby’s just been the best we’ve had.

Frownland 12-22-2017 09:09 AM

The Daily Bugle played him pretty good. They got a photojournalist with consistent shots that are hard to get and they're getting him to do it for pennies on the dollar.

I am judging all you Tobey Maguire fans.

The Batlord 12-28-2017 07:24 PM

Honestly I don't think we've ever had a good Peter Parker. Tobey was surface level with no substance, Garfield was written as someone not Peter Parker, and the new guys is... well he's fine I guess.

I see your point.

Yac 12-29-2017 02:22 AM

I was a huge Spiderman fan when I was a kid, had like 40kg of spiderman comics. I was super excited for the movie. And then they cast Tobey "charisma of a colonoscopy and a face I'd never get tired of punching" Maguire as Peter which was bad enough.. but then they cast Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane. . Kirsten "pie face" Dunst as the hottest comicbook babe.
That's a crime I have still to forgive them, the bastards.

Nah. That honor is basically a three-way-tie between Wonder Woman, She-Hulk, and Supergirl.

She very much does not unless she sat on a toilet and got pregnant.

She stuck with virginity saving blowjobs until marriage.

Tobey Maguire is not endearing.

I only saw one and he was Spidey. Those other guys look lame but I haven’t seen their movies. I don’t know if I should vote or not.

You have to be a real man to take it like a woman.

I very much doubt that comic book Mary Jane put her virginity on a pedestal.

I can see the argument for each. I think all three of them bring something unique to the table for the role.
