I remember seeing that series mentioned when I was looking up Gainax **** a while back (the director was a former Gainax dude) and really wanted to watch it. Def need to torrent it now that I've been reminded.

as if there were any other option

It's so nice though. All in all a very bright movie and by the end I felt like my life metamorphosed

then there's still a lot of "scary" suspense and imagery which is outrageously captivating and chilling. But I have a loose definition of scary

Speaking of good, weird anime, "Welcome to the NHK" is one of the better, more surprising anime series of all I've ever seen. It's nothing like you think it's going to be. Weird, funny, clever, dramatically poignant. Love it.

Ultra short synopsis: The main character is a recluse who never leaves his apartment, who agrees to work on a hentai game project with his weirdo neighbor. And he also signs a contract with a girl to come out every evening to the park and have lessons with her where she tries to teach him to be better. Plus he's paranoid and thinks an evil television network named the NHK is trying to brainwash him.

One of my favorite anime.

Has anyone seen Voices of a Distant Star? It's a short made by the director of 5 Centimeters per Second and was done all by himself before he "made it" and is the kind of DIY thing that makes you appreciate that creativity by a single person can be a magical thing even in animation.

Basically an exploration of the idea from Ender's Game of time dilation, but with high school kids and giant fighting robots cause anime. One of the most bittersweet and beautiful things I've ever seen. You need to see it basically. Only 25 minutes long...

Nice. I legit am thinking of copping a dub just to finally get this movie out of the way. Kind of a decision though cause I'm committed to dropping my current dealer who's a piece of annoying ass I don't want to deal with and I'd have to ask a dude at work to go through his dealer which is another pain in the ass.

I've seen that one mentioned several times before, and it's about time I give it a go. Definitely bookmarked.
