Day[9] Is the Video Game Joss Whedon (StarCraft Fans Unite)
 

Day9 made his bones as first a StarCraft/Brood War analyst, then as a StarCraft 2 analyst/entertainer, and once SC2 ran its course he branched off into Hearthstone, old school adventure games (with his two buddies), and more traditional Let's Plays. But his StarCraft videos are his hallmark, as he's a super-nerd who worships at the altar of SC, especially SC1 (he's a former pro player), with high-level analysis of SC2, including the monumental and intensely funny Funday Mondays that showcased his ability as a fun dude who just likes to talk about nerdy **** for the sheer, obsessive joy of it.

These days (as of 2017) he's been making some amazing, professorial, SC1 videos in honor of StarCraft: Remastered that are basically the most amazing resource for improving your Brood War game that I've ever seen (even considering his own, early SC1 videos, or arguably his Newbie Tuesday SC2 videos), which have given me MASSIVELY renewed interest in the game that are entirely responsible for me getting elphenor (and hopefully Qwerty) into StarCraft. If you've ever wanted to know what makes SC1 so amazing then watch his Let's Learn StarCraft videos to learn everything you'd ever need to know (from basic mechanics to higher strategy), along with his much earlier My Life of StarCraft video which is basically the greatest, most moving ode to nerdy hobbies that I have ever seen in my 31 years of existence, Youtube or ****ing otherwise omfg I wish I could express my emotional nerdiness to such a moving extent as Day9. Seriously I've watched all two hours of it at least twice and could totally watch it right now and get choked up.

Day9 even went so far as to do a Halloween week several years ago as a lark that showcased his ridiculously severe pussiness to playing horror games (srsly I've watched many horror let's plays and absolutely none of them feel as real and frantic as Day9's Amnesia playthrough). I only learned of him through his Amnesia let's play, which to this day is still by far my favorite let's play due to his tongue-in-cheek, playful arrogance, which was quickly supplanted by sheer, high-pitched, ****ing terror that made me want to make let's plays myself. After which I just had to watch his SC2 videos, a game I was only minimally aware of, which unlocked my current love of StarCraft, which Day9 still leads. I am not in the least overstating Day9's influence in my StarCraft obsession in even the slightest bit. It could even be said that I'm more obsessed with Day9 than I am with StarCraft.

Seriously, I don't care if you care about StarCraft, or let's plays, or Youtube personalities, Day9 is simply one of the most likeable and entertaining human beings to be put on camera and everyone on earth should at least be familiar with him. I honestly don't know if there's a "celebrity" who I would be more stoked to meet in person than Sean "Day9" Plott, and I'm including bitches who I'd need to **** like Scarlett Johansson and Christina Hendricks. By the end of this year I will ****ing have a Day9 t-shirt or forfeit my nerd credentials. I'm totally serious btw cause I must have this ****ing **** right now. Cause seriously all he wants is YOU to be a better gamer.
