Best Films Of 2017

If Exo won't let me have my "Best Records of 2017", then Goddamnit I think he won't be such a bitch if I have this one. I'll start.

Raw
Baby Driver
mother!
War For The Planet Of The Apes
It Comes At Night
Get Out
Dunkirk
A Ghost Story
Detroit

What am I missing?

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 09-23-2017 06:29 AM

i haven't seen the new Michael Haneke film yet but you should put it on the list anyway cos' I mean, it's Haneke.

djchameleon 09-23-2017 08:40 AM

Free Fire
Logan

I heard good things about A Cure For Wellness but I haven't seen it. Not sure if it should be on that list.

Free Fire! That's totally on my list.

The Batlord 09-23-2017 10:54 AM

Haven't seen many new movies this year but Logan and Dunkirk were ****ing ace.

LoathsomePete 09-23-2017 03:55 PM

I haven't seen many movies this year, but this is what I have enjoyed the most.

5) Trainspotting 2
4) Colossal
3) Get Out
2) mother!
1) Baby Driver

There's a few movies I've missed like John Wick: Chapter 2 and Logan that I'm almost certain I'll quite enjoy. The only upcoming movie that I'm really looking forward to is The Disaster Artist.

Blank. 09-23-2017 03:57 PM

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

That's all the movies I've seen from 2017.

I'll let you have this but I don't understand why you don't understand that it's too early for this sh*t.

Especially for films, all the Oscar bait **** hasn't come out but I guess a so far thread isn't bad in the third quarter.

I don't understand why you care.

Why make a thread thiat consists of the best things of a given year when 1/4 of the year hasn't happened yet?

Justthefacts 09-23-2017 08:44 PM

We're almost 10 months in the year. Believe me pal, 2 months will fly by, then it'll make sense, so just have patience and stop being a bitch.

Justthefacts 09-23-2017 08:47 PM

Btw I now add It to my list. Pretty reliable horror stuff. Great cast too.

You shut your penis pleasure hole about X-23. The baddest of asses.

Frownland 09-24-2017 05:29 PM

Ja I thought that the X-23 scenes would get elph's feminist bonk on, if anything.

The Batlord 09-24-2017 05:38 PM

I thought they were cool scenes, but honestly it would take a lot to get me to boo X-23.

Justthefacts 09-25-2017 03:25 PM

The real question is whether neck-beards are legitimately cringey.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 09-25-2017 03:26 PM

they are

Blade Runner 2049 is 98% fresh on RottenTomatoes as I write this. I have a feeling that will end up in this thread.

MicShazam 09-29-2017 04:08 PM

I'm seeing Blade Runner in a handful days and I'm pretty excited about it.

The original is my favorite movie of all time.
I'm going to have to try very hard not to let that get in the way so I can be fair to the new one.

For now, Alien: Covenant is my top movie of 2017. Haven't actually seen a lot of the movies that came out this year.

Chula Vista 09-29-2017 04:09 PM

Of the ones I've seen:

- War for the Planet of the Apes.
- John Wick: Chapter II

EPOCH6 09-29-2017 04:20 PM

So far Trainspotting 2, Free Fire, Baby Driver, Get Out, and The Devil's Candy have been the only films I'd watch again. I'm eager to watch Raw, mother!, It, Wind River, Blade Runner 2049, and Lucky.

Alien: Covenant is pretty decent. Blade Runner though I have to watch again very soon, and you better believe that's gonna be an IMAX night for 2049.

Both great, War though is fucking incredible. Best Apes film in my opinion.

Sadly don't think I even have the option to watch it in IMAX where I live.

Contrary to the opinions I hear where I live, IMAX is not overrated.

I would like to watch a movie in IMAX one day when it's more convenient for me.
Interstellar is another one I might end up cursing not having watched that way, along with Bladerunner 2049.

Frownland 09-29-2017 05:33 PM

I'm glad I saw Gravity and Avatar in Imax so I won't have to watch them again.

I saw Interstellar in Imax too but that was a great movie that I'd gladly rewatch.

Re: Ape films.

In one of the biggest burns in Oscar history IMO the apes in 2001 lost out to the apes in the original Planet of the Apes in the best makeup category.

vs.

Frownland 09-29-2017 05:40 PM

Kubrick's lady apes ain't even sexy. Apes is the clear winner.

djchameleon 09-30-2017 04:58 PM

Dr. Strange was probably dope in IMAX. I knew I couldn't handle watching it with 3D glasses on. So I passed on that option.

Paedantic Basterd 09-30-2017 05:01 PM

I honestly hate 3D films and find that 3D just extracts me from the story and makes me highly-aware that I'm sitting in a theatre wearing a pair of dorky glasses, surrounded by people's oblivious moms who are trying to touch the stuff on the screen in dumbstruck wonder.
