Selling Comics
 

Does anybody know a good place that isn't Ebay where I can sell comic books? I have just been commissioned by a friend of my mothers to sell her collection. She says it's worth 10 grand and she'd give me 25% of the take for doing it since I sell records and CDs on the side.

Thing is, I know sh*t about comics. Anybody have any ideas?

I'd suggest Googling that **** tbh. Look for a forum, cause I've checked some comic forums and a good amount of that **** is about appraising so maybe that's a good place to look. I don't know much at all about comic appraising, but I can still look a bit and see what I can find. But yeah my uneducated opinion would be to check a few comic forums.

I need to get ahold of this treasure to see what I really am working with. She says they're all 1st issue type stuff of like Superman, Spiderman, X-Men, ect. I'm going to appraise every single one of them and make a spreadsheet before I do anything so maybe those forums will come in handy.

Unless you just stumbled upon a treasure trove then I'm just going to assume that most of these comics are from the 90s, since they made a lot of 1st issues and gimmicks to sell comics back in those days when the collectors' boom was happening, and sold millions of comics doing so with millions of 1st issues of whatever floating around that aren't at all rare and ended up being worth about as much as they were bought for. But maybe you'll get lucky.

Apparently she got them along with her brother when they were younger. So definitely before the 90's. Her brother sold them off for 10k according to her so I might be sitting on a gold mine.

I'm friends with her kids too so they're going to owe me for basically giving them a couple thousand each if this goes well.

From my friend who manages a comic book store:

They take a large percentage of the profit. I buy on Ebay all the time. I just don't sell.

I will certainly be contacting you/her about this. This might be the way I do this. Thing is, I'm not sure it'll get done in the time she is home. My mother and her friend are the worst procrastinators I've ever seen. I've been hounding them for weeks to give me the f*cking collection. She finally said she'd give it to me when I get back from a short trip next week. I'm going to go through it all and have a detailed list for whomever wants to see it so I'll show it to her first once I get it created.
