The Contender (2000, Rod Lurie)
Joan Allen vies to be the first female VP of the U.S. after the prior one dies in office. But it seems she has some fishy history that the confirmation hearings may reveal to trip her and Jeff Bridges' (the President) swan song nomination. Seems tame by today's lurid standards but the acting always impressed me.
