![]() 9 To 5 (1980, Colin Higgins) Sexistegotisticallyinghypocriticalbigot became a word with this movie. And with regard to professional politics (despite some token concessions) nothing has changed. Fun get-the-boss flick. |

![]() ![]() After Hours (1985, Martin Scorsese) Well, indoor dining is out after 10 again in NY. So I'm making my own waffles. And watching movies. This one is supposed to be a gem. Dude meets up with a chick he met in a coffee shop - apparently, to his peril. One of the few Scorsese joints I haven't seen. Looking forward to it. |

![]() ![]() The Blues Brothers (1980) Forgot John Landis directed this. Also, I just noticed the famous Blues Brothers stance is similar to the trademark Run-DMC pose. Don't think I've ever seen this one in its entirety. |

![]() ![]() Purple Rain (1984, Albert Magnoli) Is there a story? Young musician tries to keep his band and his girl together while dealing with his dysfunctional parents. It's every story. Prince concert footage and Morris Day/Jerome Benton goofing make this one. |

![]() ![]() RAN (1985, Akira Kurosawa) Well, I'm riding out the month with great 80s flicks. Didn't realize this one was out of print. Gonna try this streamer and if it's bad I'll have to dig for my blu-ray. Highly recommended, btw. Kurosawa's take on Shakespeare's King Lear. |
