Might help if you think about it like this: What would you think of a country invaded America and murdered thousands of civilians for something like preserving their superpower reputation or keeping oil prices low? Imma guess you don't have a positive opinion of that hypothetical country's actions. So why should America get to do it?

^ That may be the American way, but it's not quite the whole picture though, as fighting wars can also involve defending countries and preventing civilians being murdered.
