While I was being a bit facetious, I don't think you or I have any right to say whether or not people should have a parade for support of something. By all means, people should be allowed to express themselves regardless of if people get bothered by it. it doesn't bother me, it shouldn't bother you. So what's the problem? And all the other issues you speak of? Why not do something instead of complaining about a parade that doesn't even affect you in any way? That's my question.

Yeah see your freedom to voice disdain for the expression of those you disagree with can amount to oppression when those people are historically oppressed. Why do you think they created gay pride parades in the first place? The freedom to express disdain for homosexuality, even simply bland dismissal, has historically been a bludgeon to keep those people silent and in the shadows.

There is no such thing as perfect freedom. To express your free speech to deride gay pride parades is to contribute, intentionally or not, to a culture that restricts the other side's freedom of expression or even of existence. And to protect their freedom of expression we have to make a choice to tell you and people like you to shut the **** up, which expressly restricts your freedom to express your views because we want your views silent and in the shadows. I'm fine with this because you'll be aight either way but LGBT people will only be aight if your views are shut down.

Freedom does not exist in a vacuum, bruh.

Oppression requires an active drive to degrade someone or something. Me thinking that it is funny that I do an internet search for an MMA event and, instead, get inundated with gay pride images is comical [at best]. Me talking about that occurrence in no way constitutes "oppression," regardless of any historical precedences. Your false equivalences fail. And you'll have to excuse me if I don't take moral and ethical advice from someone who fantasizes about raping aborted babies.

What views? That they should be allowed to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't infringe upon others? What a crazy notion!

Oppression is an exercise of power. The majority can exercise unintentional power on the minority through both having negative opinions about the majority and being ignorant of the consequences of expressing those opinions in a way that doesn't take the realities of the minority's situation into account.

I've recently been made aware of one Franzt Fanon, who was a black man from then French Martinique who fought the French in Algeria, and he says that black people had/have to create like their own little white person in their head because if they weren't/aren't painfully aware of how everything they did/do might appear to a white person then they can get in serious trouble.

I imagine gay people have to do the same thing, and it is oppression because they then have to either alter their behavior or choose to roll the dice and hope they don't get curb stomped by a redneck.

Now who can't take a joke?

If you think that's all you're saying then you need to start recording yourself and hearing the playback.

I am not responsible for any other individual's personal behavior, nor is anyone else. We are sentient beings and exercise free will. Do our personal choices carry influence amongst the populace? Some more than others. But people should not be afraid to speak their beliefs.

Like I said, I will fight for your right to disagree with me, because personal freedom and liberty is more important than any set of beliefs.

You see, this is where we differ. I think that people should have freedom, but you only think that people should have freedom to do the things that you agree with. Example:

I know you're not a dirty commie but think of "freedom" like wealth. In a system that has historically disproportionately benefited one group (in Western capitalism it would be rich white people) capitalism is going to put wealth in the hands of that group which they will use to consolidate ever greater wealth. And even when the law technically puts them on the same playing field as other groups in theory the wealthy elites still have the monetary power to unfairly prevent others from horning in on their economic territory.

Now when talking about freedom you can't necessarily redistribute freedom as if it were something physical, but you can try to shame the "freedom elites" who hold greater de facto accumulated freedoms into not being cockbags who use their greater influence to stifle the freedom of historically disenfranchised peoples who might technically have the same freedoms but are currently operating from a weaker political and social position.

Or something like that.
