Seven Samurai (1954, Akira Kurosawa)

It usually seems a long nearly 4 hour prospect but is completely engrossing each time I watch it. One of the greats.

I caught this Sabbath doc last night at my friends place. The first tune I learned on guitar was Iron Man, and then quite a few more of theirs down the road. We played Hand of Doom and Snowblind in one of the last bands I was in too, which was always a highlight for me when we played shows. This end of their era with Iommi's rock solid resolve through his newly diagnosed cancer is really bitter sweet. Of course their age shows in their performances, and they do a bit of post editing but they're still fairly solid as far as the 3 remaining original members go. Pretty dam cool to see actually.

Director, William Friedkin, talked about making movies at the Locarno Film Festival this summer. The 70s are my favorite decade for films; a few of his films are among my favorites.

Torch Song Trilogy (1988, Paul Bogart)

God, I hope there's no remake. TRied to watch the Boys In The Band remake on Netflix last week. Why did they bother? Couldn't hold a candle to the Friedkin take. And who is likely to top this Harvey Fierstein classic? Precisely. Fun streamer.

Default more 80s classics

9 To 5 (1980, Colin Higgins)

Sexistegotisticallyinghypocriticalbigot became a word with this movie. And with regard to professional politics (despite some token concessions) nothing has changed.
Fun get-the-boss flick.

Currently dying of laughter over this little music video (on my Recommended page) that uses a Taylor Swift song and scenes from the movie Rope, of all things
