Do a lot of youtube channels these days make "disposeable" content?
I spend a lot of time watching game, music and movie related youtube videos, with the occasional channels about something else like adoseofbuckley. There's this issue though, where I seem to very rarely want to rewatch a video. For some types of vids that can't be helped (such as a long in depth analysis like that of Joseph Anderson, which you'd only rewatch upon forgetting the content) but when it happens with things like comedic vids it's kind of a shame. It seems like ever since all these people wanted to do youtube full time they just make content each week/two weeks that's fun to watch but not fun to watch over and over. It's asif the videos are meant to be watched new and are "disposable" so to speak, not meant to last long.
Compare all the non jontron normalboots/hidden block style channels to the guy that basically kickstarted the comedic game review: the Angry Video Game Nerd. Not all of his content was particularly amazing, but it felt similar to a tv show like Southpark where I could enjoy watching different episodes over and over through different time periods and it'd still be amusing. I rarely get that these days. It feels similar to beating a puzzle game, after it's not too interesting to re-experience. Sure it happens, but it seems to be rare. I know avgn had a schedule too, but I'd actually like to see less videos I want to watch multiple times than more. That's something I like about certain animators who's work takes a ****load of time to make. OneyNG might drop a vid every once in the blue moon that's like 2 minutes but I've watched that final fantasy 7 parody and hellbenders a bajillion times over the years. |
